How did you run your fuel lines?

I am currently running -10 braided line on my 64 dodge 440 and I can't see any way to keep the line hidden between the rear wheel well to the engine compartment. The original factory line was tucked up in the little space between the rocker panel flange and the floor but the -10 line is way too big to be hidden there. But I don't see any other way to do it.

This is gonna be an even bigger problem when I do my 65 coronet because it is gonna probably need -12 AND it is going to have a return line (smaller of course).

How do I keep it from looking like a rolling plumbing display??

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jason

that is some pretty big line. mine is fastened to the frame connectors.

alot of fuel system with return lines require a return line bigger than supply line. you will need one massive pump to withstand g force pressure with a -12 line

Yes. I stated that wrong. On the 65 It would be either a -8 send -10 return, or a -10 send -12 return.

Either way it is alot of plumbing to try to hide safely.

I agree thats some huge line. Are you running nitro and a funny car blower?Thats about all that would need anything that big.Rocky

I am using the plumbing diagram from the Barry Grant web site. Thanks for the comments on the line sizes. Now, does anyone have any help to offer on my question? I was really hoping someone had a neat trick to share on how they ran their line. Even if the line is a -6 send -8 return it is still going to be hard to tuck away.

I run #10 from the back frame mounted pump along the inside frame and frame connector, at the front of the connector, the cross member area it cross's through to the outer frame through a brace and up to just behind the upper a-arm up to the regulator which is mounted on the carb. Rubber/stainless clamps are used to fasten to frame .

i run -8 from tank to carb
pump is mounted to frame r/h rail beside the stock tank, sumped.line runs along the inside of rail then along the chassis connectors.at the t bar cross member i welded in a tube, line goes straight through then up front rail.
held in by p clamps, heat shield where ever is near exhaust, front rail and muffler.
i run a dead head, never had fuel issues

My 64 Belvedere runs thru a bulkhead in the RF trunk floor. Then it runs inside of the RS frame rail. It crosses over under the kick-up above the axle to the outside of the rail. I have ladder bars so I notched the front leaf spring hanger with a piece of tubing. I also notched the frame support between the front sub frame and rocker panel. That way the line can run outside the frame connector but doesn't have to drop below it. The last portion runs up the RF inner fender well above the shock tower to a bulkhead fitting .

I used aluminum tubing (instead of AN hose) from the pump to the regulator and hid it behind the rear subframe and subframe connectors up to the trans cross member and then enlarge one of the holes in the crossmember and push it through there before attaching it permently with hose clamps and self tapping screws to the front sub frames and sub frame connectors. I do clean it well before running it with laquer thinner so I can use Zinc Chromate primer and then black paint to hide it My current car has #8 to the front only, I used a Magnafuel pump with the return line from the pump to the tank instaed of using a return style regulator with another gas line from the front back to the tank Is this a street and strip or race only car? The reason I'm asking is my Duster is both and when I called BG about using their 280 or 400 pump on the stret they said absolutely not, neither one was designed to be continous duty, drag race only Magenfuel said no problems with using thier pumps on the street I used a #8 line to the front on the Duster, #10 from the tank to the pump. I will use a #12 from the tank to the pump and a #10 from the pump to the front on my new car, 1965 Dart with 900 HP. I bought a Parker AN flaring tool that burnishes and flares at the same time also Buy the tubing nuts and sleeve washers and 25 ft roll of soft aluminum tubing and have fun BTW, Summit sells the tubing in several different colors that are anadised (SP?) if your using alcholol

Thanks for the replies guys. Seriously.
My biggest problem is the area right by the kick up on the frame above the rear-end. The factory line crosses from inside of the frame rail to the outside here. My problem is with these bigger lines there is nowhere to cross to the outside near where the front spring hangers are.
I was going to run the line on the inside of the frame rail but was worried about the rear u-joint breaking and sending the driveshaft into the fuel line.

Cab: The car is street/strip. The pump is the 220HR which is street/strip. When I spoke to the guys at Barry Grant they said it shouldn't have a problem feeding 750HP, which is what I am shooting for with the hemi the 65 is getting.

The 64 has a 413 maxi, so I think that -8 send line should be sufficient. But it is still a pain to route due to its larger size.

Again, I just wanted to hear what other people were doing and what was working, safe, and passing tech.

I ran mine though the rocker. The floor in my car is raised on the rocker in the front so I was able to sneak it back out of the rocker under the floor just behind the firewall. I run a -10 feed and a -8 return. the feed up the pass side inside the rocker and the return back down the driver side rocker.

This is where mine is cut and has a tube welded in. The tube is located between the outer rail and the inside lower bolt hole for the spring hanger. I cut the bottom of the tube so the line would fit into it from the bottom. If your running leaf springs I would weld in a tube from the inside of the rail to the outside at about a 30 degree angle to the centerline of the car.

Not car is at body shop so the tube is not in the picture, reference only

On my Duster, I ran it like this: hose from sump in stock tank to filter & pump mounted @ rear body crossmember to the right of the spare tire well. Short section of hose to inside of R/R frame rail. 1/2" aluminum line forward along inside of rail, crosses over just forward of the R/R ft spring eye bracket (inboard springs). Forward along outside of frame connector, through the crossmember (grommet) behind R/F tire, then up inside the R/F wheelhouse close to the cowl. Bulkhead fitting there. Braided stainless line is heavy, and abrades whatever it touches, so I use the Earl's hose and aluminum hardline with the AutoFit adapters. I don't think the driveshaft could get to my fuel line in its wildest dreams. Hardline is far enough forward of the spring mount that I can't crush it with the floorjack or stands. I don't run a return line but if I did, either the same side (parallel) or the left side is where I'd run it.

Thanks for the replies and pics guys!

Bigcube: I like the idea of being able to run the return down the driver side, but how/where did you cross over? I am guessing your reg is on the passenger side or thereabouts so you would have to cross over to the driver side with the return line. I didn't think fuel lines were allowed on the firewall so where did you do it and still pass tech?

dvw: I like the notch and tube idea.

Lines are on the outside of the firewall, outside the frame rails. Regulators are in the front. No issues with tech.
