I have an old Super Stock Cuda, and they swiss cheesed everything back then. Bumper mount brackets, rocker panels, etc. I can look and see if I have pics, but you need to be creative. Think like the professor when they asked him about the #1 on the side of his Prostocker, "well its lighter than #2"...

You have a really awesome car, and the fact it doesn't look that cut up is awesome. Keep up the good wrok and post more pics please.

Is your inner roof reinforcement still in? How about a fiberglass dash? Gutted steering column? Is it legal to retrofit an OEM latemodel strut front suspension? (some H-up classes allow GM platform upgrades) All-moly rollcage engineered with minimum unnecessary tubing? Is it a round tube back-half? From what I remember Steff got his pretty light using factory steering but, front C/O shocks. Also, he was using a TH400. (heavier)

Remove both of the door crash bars. 70 is the first year they were required and they are really heavy, made kind of like a guard rail. I think mine weighed about 70 lbs for both.
69 and earlier cars did not have them for the same size cars, so should not be a big issue, especially if you are installing roll bars anyway. Remove the heater box and all insulation under the carpet etc. Also, you can cut, drill out or saber saw out some metal under the door sill plates. A little goes a long way and it all adds up. My old 70 Hemi four speed Super Stock car with me in it had to weigh 3500 for our class. We usually had to add weight.

Mine is about 340# lighter, but it's 4130 round, w/struts, a carbon panel for a dash and a composite body.

You still have a real Cuda' there. It's not going to be easy shedding alot of weight.

Re: hey guys what is the weight of your ebodys? - 08/04/11 12:43 AM

Our '72 weighs 3,340, all steel body, small block with iron heads and iron intake, headers, full interior.

Don't go on the general forum and ask, guys over there think they weigh 5,000 pounds or more, lol.

And that's what makes it such a nice car....

Couple pics of mine with the rockers and the bumper brackets. They are still on the car that way to this day...Door bars, inner fenders, firewall, front frame rails, front suspension to strut, lots of good ideas, what have you done so far?

Re: hey guys what is the weight of your ebodys? - 08/04/11 03:23 AM

Mine; alum head BB, 727, Dana, SS leafs, 3100 lbs with my 240 lb butt.
Biggest/quickest gains are crash bars in doors, heater box, stock dash, seam filler (black, tar looking stuff), windshield, door glasses (including rears), window regulators (front & rear), excess bumper bracing, extra brackets after stock parts are removed (example, console brackets, rear seat brackets, ect), under hood bracing, hood springs, replace stock radiator with late model plastic/ alum (also go with smallest cap rad you can get away with, water is HEAVY).
Like said before, get creative and look at EVERYTHING.

With the op being 3k already, it seems he has already done most of the hard stuff. We need to know more about what he has done. I would think it doesn't have SS springs or cheese holes. SFI certs and safety mandations will load up on you, and weigh you down. Running mid 7's is tough even with hp. Maybe look at lighter battery type, thinner lexan, lighter updated ignition componets, sheet metal intake, aluminum bolts where useful, pin on doors instead of hinges maybe, fake lights, less wiring. Just guessing

Problem is, I think it would require major surgery to shed alot more weight.....

Carbon fiber body panels everywhere, titanium pieces like: wheelie bars, rear housing, wheel studs, brackets, etc., take the whole car down to the shell and dip it, minimum amount of bodywork and paint, carbon driveshaft....

For all the stuff you did already, it is heavy...
I assume your chassis is moly... might need to start
turning in your fiberglass for carbon fiber

Or Billet block with more cubes, one guy on here has one at 650 cubes with a billet block Hemi 99 and it ran low 7's on a testing outing....probably cheaper than CF parts in the long run...Paint, fitting etc.

At the speeds your going, there may something to gain with attention to aerodynamics. IE.. different scoop, belly pans, flush mount windshield, lowering car, etc...
Additional weight loss will be $$$.

Good Luck. Awesome car!
