Got the mold finished for the cuda roof

Got the mold finished for the cuda roof - 07/28/11 02:20 AM

My partner finally got the mold finished for my fiberglass roof on my 72 cuda. He is making stretched fiberglass cuda full quarters now. The only steel parts left on my car is the tail panel and the lower cowel for the front lexan. I am wondering if I will have the only full fiberglass door slammer cuda around. R&R speed has a pro mod cuda with a full glass body, but his doors dont open. We are kinda hoping there might be a market for full stretched glass quarters, so we can re coup some of the costs.

Here's the finished mold top, and it's going on my home built chassis. A lot of work has went into this project. I built the engine 3 yrs ago. I had a lenco in it, but went back to a very stout 727. Hope to be test n tuning in the fall

I don't particularly care for the split front windshield but to each his own I suppose.

how much weight loss over the steel roof ?
Some glass fenders are heavier than the steels. Early Duster's for one were 4 lb more.

With all that work why not carbon fiber ? more expensive sure but ultra light would be easier to sell

Hadn't pre sold anything yet. Just finishing all on my race car first. I believe 450/500 on the roof, not sure as of yet. Hadn't came up with a quarter price yet, but it will not be steep. The quarters are easier to make. I will show them once they are complete. You will be able to see the fit when it's all mounted on my car.

My partner is actually making a carbon fiber Demon body right now to. With us making the molds for race only, we are keeping them as light as possible without having issues with stress. This is our first attempt. I haven't got a weight yet on the quarters.

We still are considering carbon fiber parts. It all just takes time. I will try to get a guesstimate on weight asap. The demon stuff is carbon , my cuda was just an atempt to be different. Don't quote me yet, but I believe my partner said the goal was under 125 lbs for the whole body with the lexan included.

No an orange 68 dart firstm now a blue/silver 68 dart. Also my red barracuda will be out hoping this fall.

Al-yer-pal An old race car friend back in the late 70's gave me that nick name. It has followed me around for decades. My friend Raymond has passed and gone now. I keep the name in memory of all we raced together. He had a 66 dart (rebel rouser) 340 4 speed, 2 660 holly's, back in 1980 he finally hit his first 10.5 second pass. That was a good time back then with just a .030 over 340 and garage self ported steel heads.

Nope....I have one and the mold is in my basement. If you wanna see the finished car, go to Seifert Bros Racing, click the "friends" section. It's the purple Cuda' with the blower.
