Stroker Hemis, What do you have?

Stroker Hemis, What do you have? - 07/07/11 03:33 AM

I'm bored tonite waiting on parts for my 528. Don't know what kind of response I'll get but I'll ask anyway.
What size, what engine package, HP, 1/4 mile performance, what chassis? Can't remember if there has been a post devoted only to this, Wedges need not apply. Dave

484 cubes with a 4.15" crank and 4.310" pistons at 11.6:1 on pump. Should be good for 9.80-9.90 in my '70 Cuda that weighs 3240lbs in pro street trim...In the middle of putting it back togather, I kept having oiling issues to the push rods.

I also drive a '70 Charger with a mild hemi that is at the same cubes (484) after the last rebuild and a solid .560 cam, 10.5:1 and a Ray Barton intake with a 950 carb on pump gas, and weighing in at 4010lbs with driver, I have netted an 11.13 on drag radials...Nearly stock config and is driven almost daily.

id love to be able to say it 500+ cubes
dont have any rods/pistons yet so maybe i can find a nice 4.500 stroke crank when go to nats lol

Sold my 472 before I finished the car. New mill is 572" 4.5" X 4.5" World alum block, Stage V heads & rockers, CNC work by MCH, 10.5 CP pistons, K1 crank & 7.100" rods. Custom Solid Roller from Dwayne Porter, choice of two intakes , Indy single, or Old Rat Roaster X Ram, with 770 Holleys. Chassis is a Art Morrison with 71- 72 Pinto Spindles, ladder bars and Dana 60 rear with 4.10 gears. 727 trans with PTC converter. The body has glass front end, doors, and quarters.
I haven't run the engine yet probably wait til fall. Too hot now. The car is apart for painting.
How fast? Good question!

My personal pump gas 572 is low buck(relatively speaking) with wiseco/MP pistons, manley rods, k-1 crank, 1st gen MP aluminum heads that I ported, stage V intake with two 800 cfm edelbrocks. It's in a 70RR and is 4044# race weight with driver. It went 9.98 at 139mph last friday in the heat with M/T drag radials.

Re: Stroker Hemis, What do you have? - 07/07/11 07:32 PM

540 incher in the works:

mopar siamese block
4.5 bore X 4.25 stroke
7.1 inch rods from FHO
CP pistons 10.25:1
stage V heads ported prepped by FHO
OEM style rocker also from FHO
stage V dual inline intake
650 eddy carbs

haven't decided on a cam yet. either (not exact numbers)
hydraulic flat tappet - 240 @ .50 .560 113 lsa
or similar but slightly more aggressive solid flat tappet
or roller, don't know specs yet

i can only get ~10" of tire under the rear without mods that i'm not up for now, and the 472 in there now tears them up, so even with the hydraulic flat tappet i'm still going to have more power than i can hook with.

but on the other hand, can you ever have too much power?

so i may still go roller...

KB block 572" Hemi built by me. Callies crank, Oliver rods, Diamond pistons. 11:1 compression for 93 octane ONLY.
MP heads, DLI rockers, custom Comp Cams solid roller.
Indy -4 intake, Pro Systems dominator, 2 1/4" headers, 4" exhaust w/ mufflers.
727 trans, custom 9" 5k stall, 4.10 gear Dana 60, Cal-Tracs suspension, 295-65 drag radial.
Best of 9.54 at 140.4 mph at 3800#. The motor is getting a little tired after a few years of beating on it, but it did go some 9.60s at 140 mph last November. I'd rather just drive it for now. Working on my other road runner to go racing w/ soon.

Well I don't know what mine will do yet as I'm waiting on some small stuff. Got a set of Indy/Canfield heads and a custom comp cams solid roller from Bob George to help get this thing to move. The rest of it is a MP 4.50 block, 4.15 crank, Milodon dual line oiling with 12 quart pan, windage tray with scraper. V series bearings, Manley 6.965 rods, 10.4-1 JE pistons with .990 pins. 2-1/8x34x3-1/2 headers, Weiand tunnelram with 2 850 thermoquads. Truck should weigh in at about 3650, 4-link, 4.56 dana, Torqueflite, 8"TA convertor, on 14x32.5 M/T radial drag slicks.Dave
