Best bang for buck double adj shocks? - 06/30/11 07:43 PM

Im looking to get a set of rear double adjustable shocks. I dont know what exact extended and compressed length (but needs to be very short).

Any suggestions on brands? place to buy?

What is the best bang for the buck? Or should I get a single adjustable?

Thanks!

I just bought a set of Afco Double adjustables for my car. They were $263 from Jegs with "Racer" discount. Hear alot of good thinks about Afco's shocks.

Eric also is a dealer and he may be able to beat that price.

I hear that Santuffs are the best, Penske next and then a bunch more after that. I like my Strange Engr. double adjustables

But which is the best bang for the buck? Not the "best" necessarily. Also, do I need double adjustable?

I have Strange on the back. They seem to work well but I really don't know the price. They were part of my chassis upgrade a number of years back. It was one BIG bill for all the work.

What about Comp Engieering - or are they only three way?

Are the Comp Engineering shocks reliable?

I have strange double adjustable on mine. recommended by Monte. they work great on my low HP setup and could probably handle a lot more. if I were going with a lot more HP I would like to try to higher end double adjustable afco's not the cheap ones.

James, IMO buy the best shock you can afford. Double adjustable Strange or AFCO are best bang for the buck.

I have CE 3 ways on the front of my street/strip Dart and Rancho 9 ways on the back. They work well for what I have, it's gone 1.38 60' @ 3260# on a ET Street Radial with a pump gas 408 and 4.10 gears.

That being said, if I were buying shocks, most likely I'd buy Strange doubles. Apparently AFCO has a good handle on their drag shocks and not so much on their roundy shock for dirt cars.
