Valve springs for a turbocharged Gen3 Hemi - 06/11/11 12:33 AM

Hi all:

Are there any special considerations for valve springs on a turbocharged engine? I have plans for a turbo'd 5.7 based 392 with Eagle heads and am looking for springs. I will be useing a stock 6.1 cam. Given the valve train limitations of the new Hemi, I will be limiting the rpm to 7000. Does a turbo motor need stronger springs than a N/A motor spinning the same rpm? I can get a set of 6.1 springs pretty cheap...just dont know if they will work.

Thanks

Figure the square inches of your intake valve, times the boost p.s.i.,and add that much spring pressure. The seat pressure is where it will get you as the valve tries to close and the boost tries to hold it open.It probably won't be that big an issue unless you run gobs of boost, or have marginal spring pressure to start with.
