Where should we be at for timing?
572 Mega Block
14.3 compression
114 octane
Crank trigger at 36 degrees locked

6AL box, to be replaced this week with a 7AL 3

I would never ask what timing to run on one of my motors based on someones elses timing light, especially using a MSD ignition box Use your timing light and start around 34 degrees total timing and the sneak up on what works the best at the track to get it to the fastest MPH you can get. Barometric pressure, altitude, actaul and density altitudes, humidity, batches of race gas and several other things can affect what the motor wants on any given day Are you chasing ET and MPH or wanting a consitent bracket motor? What brand and part number spark plug are you going to use to start with? The MSD 7AL3 boxes can move the timing a degree or two from a 7AL2, who knows about a 6AL box

Mr Cab is right again!

I agree with him. Start low, find what it likes with MPH, then back off two degrees. It will thank you with many consistant runs.
