Guys wanted to check in before I pull the trigger on some transfluid. What are you guys running?

I have read all kinds of stuff in the past like 10w30 to Type F. But what will be a good fluid for a 493/727, 3500 stall with a lot of strip time. Thanks.

Cheapo type F... thats what I run in the race car and
thats what I'll run in my street/strip Rampage 518 trans

using anything else is a total waste of money. withstands 1100 hp in my glide

Where is the best place to get the cheap type F?
The cheapest i can find it around here is $3.50 a quart.

Sorry, but I'd like to understand the reason for the "cheap" type F. I know that nearly all transmission fluid complies with a standard so the brand matters little. But I'm curious.

I know there is Type F, Mercon III to V and maybe VI. There is synthetic such as Mobil I and Transynd for Allison transmissions. I'm pretty sure the synthetics take heat a lot better.

Do you you use Type F because you change it so often?

We use Type F because it's "stickier". Less slippage in the clutch packs = longer life on the track.

The fluid in my trans has been in there for about
5 years... still works fine... no burnt smell... thats
on a trans brake launch everytime

I was unable to find Type F at wally world by the gallon. I use the cheap Vtech Dexron Mercon. Had good luck with it.

Just tried the hydrastatic trans hydrualic fluid. It was thick and made the converter act lazy. Was told it would lower the stall but the Racepac said otherwise.

been using F for that exact reason as per DIRECT CONNECTION recommendation back in 1967

Type F in old cars.

MB1 syn for most late models. Dex VI in late model GM's. Lots of heat issues in late model stuff.

Back in '71-'72 I worked for Bob & Don Spar (B&M), and the story around the place was that the Trick Shift was Type F repackaged with the B&M logo.
It was cool there: got to work with Kent Fuller, K.S. Pittman, and some other drag racing icons...many stories...

Have Motorcraft type F in my glide right now.

Have used Dextron 3, Mobil 1 synthetic and hydraulic oil in it with no problems.
