Thanks Tony, boatracer 572 for helping me spec gears and prop. Hope to make some break-in runs in 2 weeks. since I am paralyzed from waste down they are designing a custom grip throttle steering wheel.

Al it's an 18 foot hydro, Doc rpm with the cam in it now will be 7300-7400. Hang on to that front motor plate you have they are getting hard to find. Thats what has been hard, Chrysler so much fabrication involved compared to ford or chevy. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tony I went with the Lifeline non chute jacket, goggles and open face helmet. Very nice people to deal with. Wife is measuring for my ballistic shorts tomorrow. I sure like that dolly trailer , Nice operation you have Tony. galen

Hay g ....could you(or would you have rather) have used that Nicson plate ...or was the belt-drive in the original plan ? do you have a pic of the prop ?

Doc it was a combination of the belt drive and I am going to try and run a heat exchanger using anti freeze in the block loop instead of running lake water in the engine. I am just running lake water through the heat exchanger tubes only. I am hoping I can control my engine temp a little better this way and keep corrosion out of the block and heads. I had originally looked into a cover like yours and was having trouble locating one. I found listings but when I called came up empty. I will try and dig up a picture of the prop. It is a 11x17 3 blade cleaver for a hydro. Got it from Tom Bentley at Menkins V-drive.

g ....we have some same thoughts but my combo will be a bone-stocker 2.2 4-banger compared to yours.

I was thinking about a small radiator and yes using antifreeze instead of lake water. Because of the potential of corrosion yes ... but I am not a fan of the potential "shock" of the cold lake water on the block and heads. BTW ...what is the cooling "factor" of having the motor out in the open like that?

My plans are to cut those "ears" off that plate(and OF COURSE save them) ...and then use a STD water pump ... but waaaay slow-up the speed of that WP.

THAT is a real common practice now(I hear) ...with most of the Pro Stock cars.

HOW MUCH of the block is "filled" ?

Re: 588" boat closer, a few pics. - 05/05/11 09:21 PM

Yea it is popular in outlaw radial and 275 radial to run ice water from intercooler through the motor and not use a raditor.

Cold engine and hot oil is what the pro stock guys are doing. That makes power.

Man...my junk tightens up just looking at those boats.
Don't get me wrong.............I dig all types of internal combustion performance.
But you guys ARE crazy.

Mine is going to be a bike with training wheels compared to these guys ... but it will still be fun. I want mine set-up just for a gate-shot ...... since you really can't run these things out on the other end on a regular lake.
