Opinions needed(NAY or YAY) - 04/30/11 12:46 PM

Car is hitting 150mph now. will closing in the grill area and adding a chin spoiler like I've mocked up with foam to fiberglass, help with areodynimcs, or be a lot of work for nothing?.
the chin spoiler look alright or not?, varied opinions here on the home front ,
Thanks,Jim

YAY! Pushing the air around and over the car has to be an advantage over going through the car.

I like the idea of closing off the big opening under the bumper for aerodynamics sake. If you do that, paint it black so it doesn't stand out so much(the filler piece, not the car).

Instead of the chin spoiler, what about an airpan under the car from the valance back to the K-frame? I'm no expert, but I would think less frontal area would be better.

Another thing to try is narrow the bumper so the ends are closer to the fenders.

taped the glass bumper I made on for a better visual, running a pan already, it has helped.

What about putting lexan behind the grille? I've seen this done and heard it made a difference. And it doesn't look as bad as covering the front of the grille.

Good point, lol. And I don't think Dan Dye's car had anything like that either. But it's his car to do with what he want's. I was just offering my Personally I couldn't cut up a nice E-body cuda.

Aerodynamically, it'll work. Closing off the recessed grille & headlamp area so it's flat or even convex is best aero solution. Corners of the air dam could be rounder but what you've designed will work. Venting the hood close to the firewall has also been proven to work.
Aesthetically, your decision, of course. Personally I like the stock design, but its aero can be improved if that matters for your goals more than stock appearance.
Same goes for a spoiler on the trunk lid; the car will almost certainly pick up MPH and maybe even top-end traction, but it's also an aesthetic issue.

YAY if it takes you to where you want to be. Different is better.

With alot more power

For the OP
Areo really help... those are 2 big buckets they call
a grille... the whole idea is to get the air either
up or around the sides... if you let it up and over
use that air to your benefit either into the scoop
or so it hits a rear wing for down force
