Inland Empire trans yoke question.. - 04/23/11 04:16 AM

Hey guys has anyone used Inland Empire quick release trans yokes? While trying to torque the caps to 18 foot lbs. I notice that there is a .003 gap between the 2 mating surfaces of the yoke and cap. The bolts do torque down to 18 foot lbs. Do you think this will be okay?
This is the sy-727-1350Q 1350 series yoke..
Thanks Matt

Do the caps go in OVER half of the diameter, if so
you should be fine... that would be applying the load
from the caps to the yoke and not to the hold downs...
I dont like how you could torque the hold down too
much and hurt the U-joint cap.... I just use the
stock straps and bolts

Yes the cap sits a little more than 1/2 in the yoke and is tight side to side. I just looked at the yoke again and one side has no gap, while the other side has .003. Both are torqued to 18ft lbs. and both caps are this way. The yoke uses 5/16 thread bolts to tighten the caps to the yoke. Thanks Matt
