Dominator E-85 Swap - 04/18/11 04:31 PM
A friend of mine has a #8896 Dominator on his race car and he is thinking of changing over to E-85. I am not familiar with the Dominators, so I would like to ask what E-85 conversion kit would you recommend to him? Or, would you recommend that he just sends in his carb to a pro to make the swap?
Thanks

I would recommend that he send the carb out and have it converted by someone who deals with E85. There are many out there that are having great results. I just finished up an 8896 dominator for my car this season. Turned out very nice.
As far as the kits the only one that I know available is form Quick Fuel and its a 3-circuit kit. I have not tried using one but did buy the kit to look it over. There are some out there that have used it with success but I hear more to the contrary.
If you have any other questions shoot me a PM.

Go to
http://raceone85.com/ and shoot Justus an email he can build a kit for your carb/engine combo. I did my dominator over the winter and have been super happy! 1st time out made 9 passes all between 6.26-6.29 and won the race. My car has picked up over a 10th in the 1/8th and even the 60' has improved.

I have not been able to verify, if the QF metering blocks still have the idle feed tube in the main metering well, like the oem 8896 does. This is a major cause of high speed lean out, when jetting down the intermediate circuit, as the restriction effects how big a main jet is effective. I would start over with a 2 circuit, or google the topic, and make up your own mind. BLP (Bo Laws) makes a billet block that supposedly picks up idle circuit fuel differently, but I haven't called them to verify.
