Modern Cylinder Head - 04/15/11 05:17 PM

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know if Jeff is back from his surgery? We have tried emailing him over the past few months, I have sent a PM through Moparts and called but have not heard back from him.
Thanks

I am in no way speaking for Jeff.
But if he is not feeling good I would give him a little time.
I am sure he will get back to you. He is a good guy.

Mike, I think Jeff has had the guy's intake for a couple of months already; it's kind of hard to be patient.

Re: Modern Cylinder Head - 04/16/11 08:50 PM

The short story is: two friends of mine sent intakes in to be ported, turnaround time 3-4 weeks. It has been almost three months now and they have no idea when they will get them back. Both guys are sitting there thru prime cruising season down here, for non-a/c cars. We all know Jeff is an outstanding craftsman and an upstanding guy. So also, are these two customers, who have tried repeatedly to get in touch with Jeff, phone calls and e-mails. Both of my friends are sympathetic people, who, if they were returned a call, with an explanation, would be both accomodating and understanding. We all hope the best for Jeff with whatever problems he is having, BUT, you absolutely have to let your customers know when there is going to be a delay of this nature. NO ONE wants to be treated this way, me or you. I hope Jeff will contact them immediatley so they can plan accordingly.

Re: Modern Cylinder Head - 04/16/11 10:34 PM

i have been diagnosed with cancer,, ill get them done,, if people leave me alone and let me work,, that would help as well

adenoid cystic carcinoma

i have had many tests and scans,, though joe's manifold should have been done even before they told me i had cancer,, and maybe the other i just have lost track of time going through all this, then everyonewho found out including my fanily stopping by to see me, talk with me,, get updated,, and its hard to port manifolds with people following you around..

im going for radiation treatment next weekend probably in seattle,, and will be there for a month or so,, all this stuff will be done in this comming week,, so you can get to cruising while im trying to stay alive...

thank you ,, and sorry for delays,, jeff

Jeff,

Good luck my brother....do what YOU need to do to get healthy first...the rest is unimportant,no matter what others may think. I have been plagued over the last year and a half with a bunch of medical issues, and at first I tried to kill myself FOR everyone elses priorities. Then you realize that many things are way more important, but it takes a while to realize everyone elses fun isnt a priority after all.

If you get a second, drop me a cell number by PM, I have something I'd like to mention.

Good luck, stay positive, and get well....

Re: Modern Cylinder Head - 04/17/11 02:00 AM

mike, what part of your head did you get radiation on at mt clemens? there are a huge list of side effects with conventional radiation when dealing with internal cancers around the brain/head area

seattle has a neutron beam radiation program which is specific for my type of cancer,, they say they see 200 or so cases a year worldwide,, there are fewer side effects with their procedure

so far the cancer board at troy beaumont said to goto seattle,, i have to be present at the royal oak beaumont cancer board meeting on thursday to discuss either more surgery or just off to seattle

it looks like this has been caught early enough so its not as big of a deal if caught at 6 months or so,, the fear is that it could metasasis to the base of my brain through nerve endings, but it hasnt happened yet,, and i need to get treatment as soon as possible,, if that happens then its not good

im working on joes manifold right now,, it will ship monday,, ill overnight it so you have it asap

I can relate to this..... No doubt about it...

When you run a business or offer a service where just about everything falls on YOU, it can be somewhat frustrating at times. I can understand people/customers getting frustrated, but as much as I hate to say this- it's "part of the deal". There isn't anyone to watch your back, when you call all the shots and make all the decisions. Best you can hope for is to try to stay on top of it and hope you don't get sick, injured, or have any other personal issues. Then all you can hope for is that your customers will be patient and understanding and not get resentful or bitter.

My best thoughts go out to Jeff and family, hopefully things will turn out well. Life is so short.

EXACTLY.....The OP had no idea......and it's common knowledge that Jeff is fairly hard to get ahold of when he's busy (which is almost all the time), so what would most guys think???

Obviously, work takes a second seat to health.......All he had to do was have a friend/relative call his customer's, tell them what's up and send the stuff back to them.......No biggie......NOT ONE person would have a problem with that....

I've got a good friend that went through cancer treatment in Seattle last year and is doing well now......
