that lash seems tight.... block and head material are needed for you to get an answer really...

did it call for 10-12 thou cold ??? Give a call to that cam company and confirm that.. That might be a cold lash setting also.
I cant recall a solid roller cam ever being that tight on lash.. even tight lash cams are in the .018-.020 range.
If that was all aluminum wedge (Maxx Block) and Indy heads, you couldnt even achieve that those settings, if you wanted to. That tight of lash set hot would leave the valves open once it cooled... fact.... They grow about .015.. so it wouldnt even start once it cooled down.
I dont care what the cam card calls for I wouldnt run the tighter than .018-.020

I bet its a cold setting... thats about right for a aluminum head big block with a cast iron block...
it would grow .006-.008 so you would be at the .018-.020 as mentioned.

Different answer for cast iron heads or cast aluminum heads. Also, is it a cast iron block?

My setup is iron block and aluminum heads. I've checked both hot and cold. The "rule of thumb" that hot lash = cold lash + .005" with iron block/aluminum heads works well in my case.

Iron block with iron heads set them .002 looser when cold, per the Crane Cams catalog instructions for setting vavles when cold It works for me, check and reset them when hot

FWIW I set mine at .012/.014 Stage VI heads Iron block solid roller cam and when I started it it sounds a little more nosiey than I thought it would. If we ever get some good weather I'm going to set them .016/.018 warm. 10/12 seems tight hot. What does the cam card recommend?

Brian I always set mine at .020 cold. Make sure that both the Intake and Exhaust valves are on the base circle for an accurate setting. Hopefully we can get some warmer weather so the tracks can open up.
