What 727 1350 yoke to use?

What 727 1350 yoke to use? - 03/30/11 05:55 PM

I'm finally almost done getting the hemi Challenger together. I'll finish the rear next week and it will be time for a driveshaft. I'm estimating 600hp with a 4:30 gear. 29/12 tire. 3800lb foot brake. I need to get a 1350 yoke. I had ordered one from Jegs but it was cast and I was concerned. I built the car to HOPEFULLY not break. Who sells forged or billet yokes? Or is it not necessary for this car?

How much power will the cheaper cast units handle? I have a Mark Williams yoke in the cuda, been there for the last 8 years or so w/ no problems. I need one for my road runner and was looking at the cast pieces...

Spicer yokes are cast, not forged. Note, the narrow parting line.

I believe mine is a spicer also. My car weighs 3800 lbs and runs 10.60's with the foot brake. Think this is a strong enough pieces for me?

Yes, the cast Spicer yokes are still a stout piece.

I use a Spicer 1350 yoke on my shaft and I find it hard to believe that an average bracket car can break one My car weighs 3600# with a stickshift and the drive shaft is on my list of things I don't worry about breaking.

Thanks, good info but I need to buy one anyway (I am upgrading from 7260 to 7290) and the price differance is vey small so I think it would be a cheap insurance...

I've twisted the cast Spicer 1350 yoke splines to the point I had to beat the yoke off the transmission with a BFH, I did replace it with the same, there a beefy yoke but billet is best.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a source for forged 7290 727 slip yokes. I can only get the cast versions like the one in your link.

If you are changing the driveshaft, I recommend upgrading to a 1350 unit. Forged slip yokes are readily available.

The one in my link says steel so I assume it is billet? (The price would match also)
