Adding baffles to factory small block oil pan. - 03/23/11 02:16 PM

Looking for suggestions on adding baffles to a factory 360 center sump oil pan for oil control on acceleration and deceleration. I have some idea how I want to do it but someone may have a better idea. Pictures would be helpful.

Just mount a piece of sheet steel to the front and
rear on a small angle upward... you can have it come
around the radius if you want... just clear the pick up

Thank's Mr P Body that was what I was planning but thought maybe someone may have come up with something better.

I've tried a couple of different approaches. One was as MR. P- body described. Another was to cut the bottom of another pan and cut a square hole in the original pan and then weld the other bottom to it. Naturally this requires extending the pickup. In the end neither worked as well as the low profile Milodon that I am currently using.

All depends on how much work you want to do... you
can put a couple of flat baffles in the sump so they
stop/slow the serge of oil coming up the wall... it
all helps... but the top one will direct the oil forward
so it drops back down into the pan and not be at the
back of the pan

here is the kevko oil pan I just picked up - have not installed it but it has what your looking for, - the tops of the sump have pans that hold the oil down - it also has trap doors for decel,

This is the quick and dirty way...

Here's the new low profile Milodon Small Block Mopar #31590 road race, pro-touring pan that is actually 1/4" shorter than stock if you count the stock pan drain plug bulge. The cut in the center section creates a taller rear sump wall to prevent oil spilling backwards.

The ultimate LOW profile Small Block Mopar pan!

How's this for clearance?!?!?
