Thats right boys and girls!!!!!
I have decided to accuire the Monster Mopar Weekend Company and with the assistance of Scott Sieveking, Mick and the rest of his team I will continue the Monster Mopar event in Indy.
This is going to be a blast!!!!! Its a great event and we are going to do everything we can with your support to continue that tradition, and if all goes well we will have at least 2 events next year!!!
Please stay tuned as the story develops!

What about the NSS class? At MMW that was run by Doug Duell and it was an awesome class that would attract 75-100 cars and I know he could not wait to see what was going to become of MMW because of the closing of St.Louis. He moved it to a Bowling Green event. I may be interested in going for a good NSS class

Mopar Ted will miss GIR. He saved me a spot every year for the last 8 years always up front by the venders. If he goes to Indy I will probably go as well hopefully with the rest of the gang.

When can we get in to the track?We are taking the week off between Norwalk and your show we would like to get there early to relax and knock back a few cold ones and grill some steaks before business starts.

I am meeting with the city, and the police department to set up a cruise for this event. I am also working to get a "host" hotel that will take care of all the folks coming in. Stand by for more info

Also at the JEGS race and million dollar race IHRA Lisense not accepectable and the event was moved to Muncie .

There was alot more going on with the Million than just tech on the cars. Diaper is not required on 9.9 second cars this year in NHRA. Supposedly it will be next year but we heard that two years ago as well. If you could get through Gateway tech, you will be fine in Indy.

I cant guarantee anything, but My goal for next year if St Louis opened would be an Indy event, a St Louis Event, possibly one further east in Pennsylvania or Ohio and an event in Michigan, but that will require everyone participating and supporting the events to allow them to grow. I am going to do everything I can to take the Mopar events in this general area of the country to a level that has never been seen before. The hobby needs this for it to continue to grow. To many people in this industry require great shows for their business to survive.

Entry for quick will be around 250 with a payout around 5k
Entry for super pro and pro will be around 125 with a payout between 2500-3500

You are gonna get more cars if you pay out further. The beauty of Monster Mopar is that it paid real good at the top and it paid back well too.
If you are gonna short change a class make sure it aint Pro. Thats typically 25-30% of your car count for a Mopar race event. Upset those guys and your event will suffer bad the following year. Just my

Eric is correct...We have good payouts at our track but you have to race the S/P winner in the final...What sucks is that there are more cars in Pro than there are in Super..Now You are gonna get the Super Pro guys saying...Put a box in!!! I am just saying....I don't want one....I just want to race and have fun...

I know the original payout was excellent and am hoping that it will be close to the same. I am sure a lot depends on if you can get any sponsors. I also can say that when it comes to running an all Mopar event, I make it a vacation and if I happen to get some coin, great, if not I had a great vacation. If I was doing it because of the payout, I would stay at my home track.

One of the biggest complaints at Osceola is that they only pay back to semifinalists.About 90% of the racers went up to Martin last year instead for several reasons,but the guaranteed payouts and how far back they pay are the main reasons.

For the Q16 guys if we have to race diggers, most of the Chicago won't show up. We have our midwest top sportsman champion race that weekend. $125 entry per day to win 4k each day. I can count 6 Q16 doorcars that will be at Cordova if the money isn't good.
Historically at St. Louis we always fill the field with 16 door cars under 7.99 but they only have 4-8 dragsters. Also if you don't have a 7.99 bump most guys won't show up. Last year was a perfect example, we started racing diggers in rnd 3. I understand Scotts dilema but we WON'T do that again. If diggers cant fill there field then there winnings need to be adjusted. but to be fair to them all this should be in the rules or payout schedule before the race.
By know means base your race on this but just wanted to give you a heads up. If you want to talk about the Q race PM me for my number.

You are gonna get more cars if you pay out further. The beauty of Monster Mopar is that it paid real good at the top and it paid back well too.

The Monster Mopar Weekend has been our family vacation spot for the past 5 years. My dad even spent his 80th birthday in the pits in 09.
Anyway's, I like your idea about buybacks. Maybe to first round loser's only? I mean 1/2 the field gets to go home after the first round anyways. Offer first round loser's a chance for a buyback and put those monies in a seprate jackpot for them to race for. Then run the buyback cars between the normal rounds. As everyone knows, the deeper you get into normal rounds, the more time the track sits empty between rounds whereas the buyback cars could fill that void and spectators can enjoy more racing than waiting. Just my .02

I kinda like the idea of a "consolation race" over a "buy-back". Where first round runner-ups could buy into a consolation race with a purse made up of a percentage of the secondary entry fees. That way all racers can get at least two rounds of competition before going home and you don't have to worry about racing some guy you already put out once.

Bad enough that there were not enough dragsters in the 7's but to not have a full field of door cars because there were several in the 8.0's to 8.20's is a bum deal. There were alot of spectators at Monster Mopar and they came to see two cars racing not a bunch of singles.

We are looking forward to attending this event in Indy. We always wanted to go to the St. Louis deal, but it was too far and usually too HOT, so we never did. However lord willing we will be attending this event, it really sounds great. The only problem I have with this race, is that it sounds so inviting that you wish it were this week-end, so therefore we have wished the summer away anxiously awaiting this race. Eric, we did have a full field of door cars. The problem was only 8 dragsters showed up. Also you can't just throw in some 8.20 cars to fill a 7.99 field, that just alienates the guys who built 7 second cars and will cannilabize the Super Pro field.
Also the Quick class is a HUGE money loser: 32 cars @ $250 vs over $15,000 payout. The idea is to keep it exclusive and try to attract the best cars.

I thought we were short on both classes in 2009 Mark. If I mis-stated, I sincerely apologize. If the field was full and the bump was 7.99 there was no problem canabalizing the SP field anyway. Since this will be a new event even though it has the old name, I would not limit it to 7.99 but thats just my 2 cents. And probably why I am a racer and not a promoter
Its too bad it aint like it was when I first started coming and we had 7 or 8 door cars in the 6's and Wheatcraft's Neon would barely make it in. Sign of the times I guess. Would love to see Rick Corn bring his ride back in. Thats a bad hombre right there.

Eric, in '09 we were short on both sides and I did let 2 low 8 second door cars in the field on the condition that they dial 7.99 or faster. That year Monster Mopar was scheduled against something Division 3 was doing in Ohio.
I learned a lot in the six years I ran MMW, it is VERY eye opening to be on the management side. I thought racing my car was stressfull.............
Try standing in a room full of hardcore, 7 second racers who have supported your event for years and telling them the dragster and door car fields will have to be combined. One of the worst moments I have ever had at a racetrack.

Don, I'm on the outside like everyone else. Josh has purchased Monster Mopar from Scott and I don't blame him one bit for being tight lipped. This will be a huge undertaking for him and he will have a ton of things to figure out and a lot of decisions to make.
Better to be cautious now than have to undo bad info later.

Labbous runs around a 7.82-7.84 with both of his. I think he is usually around 4.92-4.94 at BG if that gives you an idea.

Please consider letting our MOPAR cars with chevy engines run the event. We got some really nice Ramblers but took out the sb chryslers and got chevy motors in them. got three of them to bring if you say its ok!

If its got a Mopar engine it can run. Is this not true for the Extreme 10.5 class? If its not then why not? Would like to bring the Warbird out we can put it in camouflage paint. Cannot speak for him but there is a guy from Canada that has a AMC that has been to some KOS stuff also he broke his engine last year so dont know if he would come are not. You already know there are only about 25-30 Mopar powered fast 5.50 or quicker, True 10.5 cars in the country. Why eliminate any of them from running? Because at any given time some of those cars will be broke or apart. So if the other race in KY gets 16 cars they are doing great. Hope to see some cars at the 10.5 race in OH and your race in IN.

All show car pre registrants get an additional weekend pass for a spectator and racers can get in the track on thursday for pre registering
Friday there is a gamblers and some grudge racing in the evening

Yes you can show on Saturday, but get there early so you have time to get teched in and make a time run or two. Elims are Sat afternoon, hope to see you there!

This class is dot tires, legal exhaust, full interior, etc. It is designed for street legal cars, NOT race cars. We're not going to kick you out if your plates are expired, or the back seat is missing because the car is tubbed.....but it is for STREET cars, you get the idea.

Hi Lee! If you are bringing your motorhome, you can just camp in your pit spot like at Gateway. I don't know about the campground, maybe Josh can answer that.

If you are driving your show car around, I can't imagine anyone would stop you from cruising through the pit area.

I don't know how or if they will be segregating the cars as they come in the gate. Indy is a pretty huge facility so space won't be a problem. Even if they initially direct you to the show car area, you could probably move later.

Ok....no excuses now since I am registered. Gonna run Super Pro, 10.0, and Box/No Box. Did I miss anything? Is there a schedule posted anywhere? Need to see when I am gonna have to pull out of here be there without to big of a rush. Is there any long distance award?

To be more clear, Super Pro, Pro, NSS, Hemi, & Trophy will make time runs Friday and Saturday. The most likely run order on Sunday will be:
Pro - NSS - Super Pro - Street - Hemi - Trophy.
Gates will open at 8am and time runs at 9am.
If there is something more specific you are looking for, let me know what it is and I will answer you.

If I were to get there late Thu night/Fri morning (like 2am) is there any kind of staging area outside the track that you can sit in (like at Norwalk)?

I am supposed to have a phone conference with Josh tonight and that is one of the subjects I'll be bringing up. As of now I have convinced him to provide tech on Thursday so those of you that arrive that day can be completely ready to run Friday morning.

If you go back to page 4 about half way down Josh said we will get credentials in the mail somewhere around the first week of September.

Friday test and tune, then drink........
Saturday, test and tune, 10.0 11.0 Bobs Pro Fab 10.5 heads up race, quick 32, burnout contest then drink and eat pulled pork
Sunday one hit for everyone in the morning, then standard sunday classes

The show cars on the track is a possibility depending on the car count. If we have some holes in the schedule I would like to do that, but if we are behind (rain, oil downs, etc.) it won't be possible.
