The class is intended to be a duplicate of the Super Stock "wars" of the mid to late sixties. At that time, they were all full sized cars (B bodies, Fairlanes, etc), with big blocks and two four barrel carbs. The only exception were the specific build factory race cars designed for Super Stock racing, i.e. CJ's, Hemi A bodies, and SS AMX.
I know there is a lot of pressure at times to water down the class a bit by allowing small blocks, dominators and the like. With all due respect to everyone, I hope they don't cave to that pressure.
The class is unique, with unique type cars. To allow other combinations would, in my opinion, detract from what the class is meant to be, and turn it into just another bracket class.
thanks for the replies though I have seen small block cars racing in this class before thanks

It's supposed to be cross rams, but nowdays, the offset is so little that the intakes look like short tunnel rams. A pony car class with small blocks and cross rams could be a neat addition though.

I think a 283/350 Chevy and a 289/302 Ford and a 273/340 class up to 1969 would be great. Especially if they mad it a stick only class, big rpm's gear jammin would be killer !
thanks for the replies I am not trying to start an argument maybe it is considered a local event I seen it at Great Lakes dragway in Union Grove Wisconsin several times the one that sticks out in my mind is a 68stroked small block because that is what I run I figured they must have some flexible rules like the gasser class they run I couldnt tell one of their gassers from anything else thanks

I have never seen a small block in any NSS race that I have attended. Although we run the larger events. I have heard about some smaller circuits on the east coast that will let about anything run along with not running on indexes. Most guys along with me do not feel like those races are NSS races, but a glorified bracket race.
thanks actionange this sounds kinda like the group I am talking about maybe I will have to talk to them labor day weekend when they are there and see what I have to do to qulify

you might try this group,
2011 Victory Performance NSS Points Series
Presented by M/T Tires and Drag Racing Online
chris schiender runs it and I think your car will fit with no problems, just need a big block and afb carb or carbs
same with the NMCA, 68 baracuda/dart with big bolock and afb carb or carbs
google either for rules
