Caltracs question again... - 02/28/11 01:50 AM

Since Caltracs have been the topic of discussion this weekend, and I currently have xhd leafs on my 67 Coronet which are in good condition (not sagging) will they work with those or is it necessary to use the mono leafs? After reading the other posts here, it seems you can use them with the mono leafs, super stock springs, or xhd leafs. I know of a couple people who are using them around here with the xhd leafs but haven't spoken to them how they work/not for them.

Should I go ahead and see how they react or...? Quick info about my car: 67 Coronet, 470, dana 60, 4.10, 727, 325 M/T drag radials, 90/10s in front, stock suspension in back. Best time of 11.83 @ 113 and change, consistent 1.65 60'. I'm placing an order for a 9.5" PTC from John Cope next week and am wondering if my existing leafs and shocks will handle the reaction/hook it will have, compared to the 11" PTC I have in it now.

Thanks!!

Dave...they work best with monos or worn out 4-5 leaf stock springs. If you are thinking of getting them...I would look for a set of old stock springs

That's what I have heard before as well, however I also know they are best when using the mono leaf (or the soft springs as mentioned). I think when I contact John at CRT, I'll see what he thinks... heck, he has been a great help lately, why not!?!

Thanks for the replies!
