Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 07:22 AM

2 maybe 3 minutes of Pro Stock at the very end of a 2 hour show. I bet the companies sponsoring Pro Stock cars are feeling pretty good about their investment now........

Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 02:12 PM

Pro Stock coverage was lame to say the least!! I was also shoked to see Erica Enders grab the #1 spot! Anyone know who that Thiel guy was that didn't qualify in F/C?? He had Case-IH as a sponser and FFA...That was kinda neat!!

Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 03:10 PM

They only got one round of prostock quals off this weekend...thats how Erica got the top spot.

Brian Thiel is a GREAT dude. I have had the pleasure to meet him and a few races and he has to be the hardest working driver in any top fuel catagory.

Hey, same sentiment here...
Then the moron was back at it.
Was wishing for more bowling.
Fell alseep, didnt even make fuelers.
they should put 5 min. of prostock 1st,
then we could get some shut eye.

I think he meant they are going 320+ MPH...Dixon went 324mph. All that tells me is 1000' or 1320', doesn't really matter, should be racing 1/4 mile.

I hate most of what NHRA has done the last few years, but 1000' racing for the fuel cars was a good move and should remain. The racing is still good and they have an extra 320 feet of much needed shut down area.

I doubt most people can tell the difference between 1000' and 1320' anyway, especially on TV.

Remember she has Cagnazi power now!

Mike Edwards should've went testing instead of playing around with his frontend loader
Glad to see the cry babies gotta race each other in first round of FC.

Erica used to tree a lot of other drivers, and never really had the car to back it up.Might be interesting to see her in a fast car now.

NO....he meant even though they have shortened up to 1000' they are running the same mph they ran at 1320' which many speculated they would....I really can't tell the difference

Don't doubt the Yungin' from Houston out.

I was kind of ticked she didn't have a ride for what should have been her second year of Racing ProStock.

She was running very well with the Big Boys here Rookie year in Pro Stock.

Glad to hear she's back at it.

Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 05:35 PM

Funny That!!

Put the odds against the racer and they will find a way to overcome.

I been keeping up with the ADRL ProMod racing that's been going on over the winter and they are running 3.66-3.90 at 220-235mph in the 1/8ths.

Who says 1/8 mile racing is slow??!!

Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 06:18 PM

Yes, Pro Stock ended up with two rounds of qualifying, Mike Edwards did not make the show.
As someone said earlier, why would anyone want to sponsor Pro Stock when they only get a few minutes of air time in a 2 or 3 hour broadcast.
The NHRA website has been terrible today too. It won't load, then when it does, you can't navigate without it giving an error.

Re: Racing On ESPN2 - 02/27/11 07:15 PM

"I was kind of ticked she didn't have a ride for what should have been her second year of Racing ProStock."

There has to be more to the story. She's marketable, Connellys one of the best drivers, Jegs a proven winner, yet each of them won't/can't stay on board?????? With the business this has become, a driver has to contribute more than an ability to drive the car. The driver is the face of the team/sponsor and gets the majority of the attention and perhaps ego's get inflated or some internal envy develops. I'm sure each situation is unique. As with any sport, there has to be alot of "behind the scenes" day-to-day BS. Since racers don't have media in their face daily like professional athletes do, the "issues" with certain personalities are not public knowledge, be it with drivers, owners, drivers' fathers, or crew members.

The BIG DIFFERENCE is 340+++++ in the 1/4 without sufficient shut down gives death a free ride. The 1000ft still has plenty of competition. Drag racing don't need another death so we can say it dangerous.
