Indy Heads - 02/26/11 09:20 PM

Can you run Indy Heads on a magnum motor? I am going to buy some aftermarket performance heads to put on my 360 magnum motor very soon .I cannot decide what to buy ,I was going to buy Edelbrock RPM's but was thinking I should Buy better ones while I am at it.That way I want have to upgrade later if I want to go faster.

With pushrod oiling rockers, it's a bolt-on swap. I'm thinking
early year Magnums still had the oil passage to the head
still but, I don't know for sure.

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with the cnc ported Edelbrocks. They are supposed to flow around 300 cfm. I guess I will need New rockers and pushrods.

I would say buy the Indy's because it's no secret- no matter how fast you are going you WILL want to faster in the future. Might as well do it now rather than later.

Would it be better to just by the heads then buy the rockers and intake from another source instead of the top end kit.

I would think so since they come with junk push rods and bolts instead of studs and the rockers leave a little to be desired for sure.
From what i have seen I would get bare castings and get better valves, springs and retainers.

I'm taking the complete top end off of 395" Engine Masters entry to INDY next weekend.

The edelbrocks arent even in the ballpark with the Indys. We swapped between the two and the Indys were not as high as mentioned. I ordered the Indy heads and intake with T&D rockers setup for a roller cam from Bob Mazz. and it was under $3000. They made WAY more power than the Eddys. Edelbrocks are good but not comparable...

Were both the Edelbrocks and the Indys unported? I am just trying to find out all the info I can.Do you have any before and after E.T.s? Thanks for all the info!

You are correct. The early roller blocks do indeed still had the oil passage.
