Moving the power band - 02/18/11 03:17 PM

Does anyonr know how much advancing or retarding a cam effects the power band. I think I remember that every 2 degrees moves the power band 500 rpm?
Anyone know?

Of course it probally depends on the cam LSA to start with and the rest of the motor parts On all the Mopar motors(SB,BB, and 426 hemi,N/A motors, gasoline mild to wild) I have tested cam phasing on they like advanced or close to straight up more than retarted I'm talking cams ground on 110 or tighter lobe centers installed at 110 to 101 That is probally one of those things that have to be tested in the car for each application and track conditions

id say 1 degree is 150 to the point that the cam can no longer move it,,, there are so many variables there,, its just not the cam

it depends on how well (or how poorly) your cam is matched to your heads, and your port cross section. and a few other things.

What about the guys on here using the MP grinds who advance em 8/10 degrees? , be lucky to hit 1500 rpm.

Lots of variables as has been pointed out.
