Winternationals Pomona, Reserved seating questions? - 02/10/11 07:38 PM

A couple of questions, do the reserved seats fill up? Is it better to purchase tickets in advance to avoid a long wait? How long does it take to get through the gates early in the day, say at 7;30 when they open?
We will be driving in for the Sunday Finals and don't have a clue what to expect. Thanks!

As a general rule, all of the reserved seats do not fill up although the ones in the prime locations normally do.

If you're planning to arrive at 7:30, that should be early enough to avoid any long lines since final eliminatons don't start till 11. You'll have plenty of time to walk through the pits, the midway, or the special 60th anniversary display which should feature a lot of cool cars.

Also, you might want to check around for ticket discount. I know that Auto Club members get a deal and there are usually coupons at places like O'Reilly Auto Parts. You can also call 800 884 NHRA and ask where to find the best deal.

Doesn't take long at all to get through the gates as it's usually raining that time of year . Pomona....you'll pay for parking and still have to hike quite a ways. I prefer to have my tickets beforehand as the lines seem to be quite long there in my couple of experiences (probably due to nobody getting advance tix because of the chance of rain in the forecast).

Correction..
No discount for the Auto Club as the 2011 Winternationals are sponsored by O'Reily Auto Parts not the Auto Club this year. Check with an O'Reily store they have $2 discount coupons..

Note that the Auto Club does have discounts for the March Meet @ Famosa since they own the strip.

Just my $0.02..

i wouldnt do reserve seating. sit in general. if you bring cooler and blanket in, you can take up more room and be more comfortable. reserve you dont have that freedom, unless no one sits next to you. tape your blanket to the bench, that will reserve your seat. duct tape works great!!

At the Southern Nationals in Atlanta Ga you may stand in line 30 mins. to get to the window and find they only sell tickets for sections A&B and say you want to set in section G. They are not any wall's between the tellers, but if you want section G seats they will tell you what line to go line up in to get them.
That's why I always get mine in advance.
I don't know about out West, but here in the East if you leave your blanket, cooler you won't have either when you return. With a Reserved seat you take everything with you,and when you return you not only have your seat but your stuff as well.
