Please check my 8 3/4 measurements. - 01/23/11 11:50 PM

I crawled under the 69 Cuda and plumb bobbed down to the level concrete and came up with these measurements. Spring perch centerline to centerline is 43.00 inches, axle housing flange to flange Centerline is 52", axle flange to axle flange centerline is 57 1/2". We are about to order a Dana 60 for the Cuda and we want to make sure that this is correct. Someone told me that the housing SHOULD measure 51 1/2 inches center to center of axle housing flanges.

The axle offset for a Mopar end is 2 1/2". If you add 1/4" for each rotor hat you get the 5 1/2" difference you have.

If you like the way it fits now why worry about just build it like what you have.

I have seen A body 8 3/4 housing measure like yours and some measure a little shorter, that is with the center section out measuring across the front sides, Mopars factory spec. of + or - minus a yard is pretty close isn't it If the housing is tweek a little forward or backwards, up or down a little that will add to the differences also I ordered my strange 35 spline axles for the A body brakes back when, not the B,E and C body brakes. There is a differences in the distances from the axle bearing seats to the outside of the axle flanges I think that I would order off of (worry about) the spring perch centers and the outside of the axle flange to the other outside axle flange measurements don't forget the pinion offsets and spring perch angles Are you guys going to MATS this year?

If you have BBP axles in an original A body rear, it should measure right at 57 1/2" - 57 5/8" wheel mount to wheel mount.

The housing is 52 5/8" flange to flange

I'd give them total width and make sure they make the pass side tube 1 3/8" shorter than drivers side to get your pinion offset correct. I have a spreadsheet that computes that stuff, let me know if you want it.

That 51 1/2" number is from that Bull$HIT chart that is around that says 51.400.... IT'S WRONG!!!

Do your wheels/tires fit the way you want? To heck with the factory specs, they don't mean anything. The original specs were chosen for the '65 A-bodies anyway.
