Re: Post Your Winter Drag Projects Here! - 01/08/11 02:05 AM

The "real" racecar is ready for next season except for the woefully dangerous 2-year old 5-point harness, and the 500"/727/braced 8.75 drivetrain swap for my '64 has been back-burnered until we get the new restoration shop done; we're getting' the old band back together (the guys that worked on my '69RR that won class at the Nats some years ago).

No guys, THIS is a "generational" project. I started on this Daytona S/G ride in 1992, while still racing my 'cuda every week. I quit racing in 1995, quit working on the Daytona, parked the 'cuda and locked the shop. Fast foreward to 2007, I had gotten divorced, remarried, sold my house, quit my job of 29 years, moved 300 miles east, bought another house, quit another 50K+ job, and was lured back to the company I had previously worked for. During this "down" time, I had managed to hang onto (or bought back in some cases) most all of my racing stuff. My new wife encouraged to get back to racing, and I had a choice to finnish the Daytona or update my 'cuda. Don't know when the Daytona will work it's way to the top of the pile . MS round tube chassis, Strange strut front, 4-link rear, all fiberglass body, set up for RB & 727.
One of these days...

Re: Post Your Winter Drag Projects Here! - 01/11/11 01:34 PM

after 12 years of parts sitting on shelves I decided to finish the running project that I had started back in 96..ok so its not a mopar ..

but it is a project..its my 69 Camaro...tubular upper and lower control arms with Carerra coil overs...Aerospace 4 piston brakes and 2" dropped spindles..

see I cut the coils to get my ride height and lost all the rebound in the shocks..so to get the ride height I went with dropped spindles and to get full shock action I went with coil overs for their adjustabilities..

I still have the 63 Dodge and if that doesnt get sold by spring, then I'll finish it up..
