I don't know about that but my buddy runs a turbo 400 behind his 900+hp 392 turbo's SB.

I always thought they ran specially machined 904 type parts in a 727. Wouldn't make much sense to use TH400 stuff since many of the high HP 400 convert to spragless type direct/intermediate drum making it more like a 727.

ProFlite ?

For the ultimate in race 727 technology. The ProFlite transmissions are for use in NHRA's Comp Eliminator and Super Stock Modified cars, regardless of the brand of transmission the car originally came with. ProFlites are designed to fit wherever a Powerglide once resided. Based on smaller AMC 727 casings (which are narrower in the bellhousing region by 1.5 inches) and featuring light-weight 904-based internal components, these transmissions are so efficient they require only 125 to 150 psi of line pressure to function compared to the 225 psi required in the race 'Glides. The lower the pressure, the less power is wasted turning the pump. The ProFlites are available with 25 different gear-ratio combinations, are available with a billet aluminum adapter to fit Chevrolet engines that allow the use of Powerglide torque converters, and are able to withstand up to 1,300 hp.

I heard about this too. But I also heard that it somehow eliminates "park" in the trans. The tech guys made the drivers put the car in park, if it rolled when they pushed it, it was DQ'd.

RIGHT ON. A friend of mine made a time run at Indy. When he retuned to the pits an NHRA official rode up on a mini bike and told me they would let it slide this time but get the Lucas sticker on the car or the run would be DQ.
