I had a question for some of you fellow racers.I am a sportsman footbrake racer.I am presently running a Pro Systems 4150 carb.Sheet on carb shows to flow 944cfm.I have a 1966 Dodge Coronet with a 512 lowdeck.I was interested in trying a Holley 1050 Dominator.A friend of mine that builds engines recommended the list #8896.Another friend told me #9375.Which would yall recommend?The car weighs 3530lbs. with driver full of fuel.In cool weather the car runs 6.20's eighth mile.Would I see much E.T. gain for the $700.00 plus dollars carb price?Indy 295 cnc EZ's (flow 350In.245ex.)Indy 4150 single plane.650 CompCam solid flat tappet.13.5 to 1.Thanks for any advice.

I would think a bigger carb would help you . I would guess a 10th with a dominator but then again I would consider a larger carb than the 1050. Call patrick at Prosystems and ask his advise.

I'ld call Holley tech and ask them. I run the 9375, but I converted it from a 3 circuit to a 2 circuit. I believe both carbs you listed are 3 circuit carbs. I don't think the 3 circuit is best for foot brakers. I know that the 9375 is an annular booster carb, and I think that the 8896 is not.

You should be able to borrow a Dominator and adapter from someone just to try. For a foot braker, I would think that a 2 circuit carb with annular boosters would work best, but I am not a carb guru.

My car weighs 3450 and I have a 499" wedge that runs 6.9s in the 1/8. When I went from the 950 to the Dominator I gained about 1 1/2 mph, but basically ETed the same because I believe that I have maxed out my stock un-reinforced body.

I'm assuming from the 6.20s you don't drive this thing on the street. That being said, I think the 8896 is you best choice. It's designed for your type application. The 9375 was designed to be used in a dual 4 application.

I don't think you'll see a lot of ET difference unless your current carb isn't working well but that 8896 should make a major improvement in how clean and crisp the motor runs.

When I went to the 8896 from an old version 850 my car didn't go a lot faster but it sure worked better. Throttle response and all that.

Then I had the new carb worked over by Gary Stinnett and REALLY saw some improvement.

Myself and a lot of my friends run the 8896 in our Super Gas and Super Comp cars with anywhere from 572" on up to 632" motors running mid to low 8s.

I'm curious on this one also since I'm running a 850 on my 512 also....been thinking of a Dominator. I have been told 1-2 tenths

There are three versions of both carbs, pre HP, post HP and Ultra. I have had and used both carbs and both types of the early ones, none of the Ultra. I like the early 9375 non HP for single four foot brake racing They are a two circuit carb. with no power valves originally that works very well on a single four intake foot braking I have loaned my 9375HP out before adding jet extensions to a local racer, he said it work real well out of the box, but it did bog on the hit, I'm sure due to no jet extensions in the rear I have track tested the non HP 8896 with stock jetting compared to a non HP 9375 with stock jetting and the 9375 was faster by around .04 and .3 MPH I have also dyno both carbs, 9375 with stock jetting versus 9375HP with stock jetting and the HP made a little more power, not much, 5 to 8 HP and similar torque in parts of the dyno tests, not all the way from (on every 100 RPM measured) 4000 RPM to 7000 RPM BTW, the stock 9375 are a two circuit carb. with non annular boosters and no power valve, the 9375HP are a three circuit carb. with power valves front and back with standard boosters.

There was a thread on here a while back about a 1050CFM 4150 carb, wish I could remember for certain but I think it was QFT?

Most any Dominator can be made to work IF you're a good carb guy. If you aren't a carb guy then I'd highly recommend calling someone like Bo Laws (BLP Performance) and have them build one for you.

I know it seems like a waste of money to buy a tuner carb when the Holley carbs should work right out of the box, but plenty guys have trouble with box stock carbs.

I run the Old Style 8896 converted to a 2 circuit on my 448" motor and love it. Crisp and rev's like a small block. Not too shabby of street manners also

This is a foot brake car with stock suspension @ 3325# race weight and has gone a best of 1.389 in the 60' FWIW

Don't mean to hijack here but I'm sure the OP might want to know also. What's the benefit of converting an 8896 from 3 to 2 circuit?

850 cfm running 9.04 good for you and I would guess 2 tenths going to a dominator.

The main benifit to the 2 circuit carb is they tend to run much cleaner at part throttle.....especially good for street driven cars that cruise around allot between 2500-3500RPM....we get allot of calls every week from guys that have Dominators that run rich at idle and rich at part throttle.....and for most applications the 2 circuit Dom is a great choice and will run just as fast as a 3 circuit....

We build allot of 2 circuit Dom's for street/strip cars and boats that spend allot of time at idle and cruise....no matter how much tuning we do on a 3 circuit it just isnt as nice as a 2 circuit Dom when its done correctly....Jesse

Booney.....we would look for at least 2 tenths pickup in the 1/4 on your 512....there's no doubt it will run stronger up top but the trick is to not loose any down low....Jesse

I would give promax in indy a call I had one of their 1050 4150 carbs that the advised me to buy based on my engine and other parts. They were spot on with the size and carb jetting ect. I tried many other companies and they were the best so far. great customer service.
