stock juice roller lifters

Hey guys,

Im building a 91 360 factory roller block and planning on a cam upwards of .550" lift at the valve. Was wondering if the stock style roller lifters would still work for lift this high or if i would have to go aftermarket. I still have the factory lifters and they are in almost brand new shape, also labelled for each lifter bore they came from too. Just looking for some input, if i have to buy new roller lifters, id rather buy brand new solid roller lifters and call it a day

Like I said in my other post,for $269.99?? Its a piece of mind to buy new ones. Im running a .570 with 1.6 rockers with no problems.

not sure what other post you are talking about

Im talking about hydraulic roller lifters, not solid rollers btw in case i wasnt clear

anyways, back to the original question...would the stock ones be ok? I cant see much difference between them and aftermarket ones except for price

I reused a set of OEM HR lifters in my 88 318/341 mini stroker block. No issues at all on a 236/240 @.050 HR...probably use them again when I find another home for this motor.

you're fine using them and then tend to be quieter than performacne variants. Make sure the preload is right, and you're good to go.

I run a set of used stock 1990 roller lifters in my 88 318 with a lunati roller cam..not big but .485 lift

been 6200rpms and no valve float with the comp 901-16 springs

used all the stock roller gear and hardware from the 90 engine

didnt keep them in order as they dont need a break in from what I understand

oh, and my 88 318 oils thru the block/heads to the rockers along with the oil tru roller lifters and hollow rods so it oiling both ways

the stock 90 318 was this way also

thats one step closer to a magnum head swap for a pre-mag hybred

they are pushing over 200,000 miles now,,

wanted to rebump this post..I am stepping up to a cam with .630" lift on the intake side and im wondering if the stock roller lifters will be ok? I have heard over .600" that the oil holes on the lifters have a chance of being uncovered, but im not sure if this is true.

any input is appreciated!

My son(Dizuster) just built a turbo small block with a regrind factory cam. He was told to see what lift his springs would measure at 350lbs. They ground the cam to that lift(aprox .500), He was told any more spring pressure and lifter tends to collapse.

My 98' 5.9 magnum has a cam motion .580 at the valve hyd roller with the stock type rollers in it. What we measured and talked to others around here was that at .600, the oil hole starts to come out the lifter tube. ya cant really install taller inserts in there due to the dog-bones holding them in. We just figure if we want to go to a taller lobe, we will have to go solid roller. My advice would be to go more ratio on the rockers with longer valves. You can gain some there without changing cam and lifters.

Well I ended up getting the cam ground on a smaller base circle so it should be good... Totally forgot that it could even be done when I asked this
