Anyone who is using (or has tested) Edelbrock Victor heads... what did you end up running for total ignition timing? Also, what CR and octane fuel were you using?

34 degree's 14-1 110 octane
that probably doesn't help you much though.

Is there a general rule on timing and compression? 34 at 14:1 what would 10:1 pump gas be?

Victor max wedge here, 13:1, 32 degrees total made best HP on dyno. I haven't touched timing or jetting since it was dynoed. So don't know what "real world", as in, track tested best is.

FWIW, this is what Johnny Burch saw while testing at MIR on 10/24/2010.
542 CID (4.380 x 4.50 stroke), 12.7 CR (0.040" down the hole), 276/280 at 0.050" roller cam, max wedge Victor heads,
in this order as the weather got a little slower as the day went on:

36º, 1.328, 3.814, 5.911@117.10, 7.730, 9.281@144.83
33º, 1.334, 3.827, 5.926@116.97, 7.748, 9.301@144.63

richened carb, then
33º, 1.333, 3.832, 5.935@116.67, 7.761, 9.316@141.38
36º, 1.335, 3.826, 5.926@116.82, 7.750, 9.300@141.23

I have a 10 to 1 499 that runs on 93 with no problem runs N/SS B best timing that I found with dish pistons and 150# cranking comp is 40* less is slower on the ET.

I don't run Victor head but I am surprised at the amount of timing to gain best power. These numbers reflect those of a stock style iron head. I would think that with a more modern chamber and better plug location they would need less. Has anyone besides Jim tried less during the same day? Just curious

Same here, but I had the same observation re: how much timing people seem to run w/ Indy BB heads, too.

I haven't tried any adjustments at the track yet, but 32 degrees made more power than 34 on the engine dyno on my setup.

It also includes rod/stroke ratio and piston head design...

In my car, I have Indy 440-1 heads, 13.5 CR with flat tops, 68cc, 511 CID, and this is all the ignition timing my motor needs:
