Progress Made on NSS Build

Progress Made on NSS Build - 12/20/10 04:53 AM

We actually got some work done on mocking up the new clutch and bellhousing. Hopefully the engine will be in the car before the new year to start the fabrication of trans tunnel.

Boninfante 10' single disc clutch. After initial setup it is pretty simple. Seat the clutch and check the base pressure after 25 runs.

So do you do the adjustment through the upper larger hole in the bell housing?

A 64 with a stick. I'm Very Very jealous. Not to mention your project is way ahead of mine. What trans? My friend held the NHRA SS/B record with a 64. Every time I saw him getting towed back broke he would always say the same thing to me. "So you want to run a stick"
Whats your engine combo? What index are you shooting for? I hope it runs great.

Who did your carbs ? (looks like a Diamond Back sticker on the front ? )

Are you going to run a "pop" off valve on the intake ? in case of a back fire ? (seen a few fires without them)

Nice setup,, ,jealous,, ,,my plan is to do the same setup and run NSS (minus the 4 speed)

Great job....

Greg, thats a cool setup, don't see many sticks, I'd love to take a look at the car, interested in running some NSS myself since there is some kinda local.

Looks good Greg!

Bonifante clutches seem to be the hot set-up for NSS racers, Damon and Mark are pretty darn knowledable on them from what I hear. Cant wait to see the car in person. Planning on running any specific series?

Mark has the stick deal down. He's been doing it a while though. Hope to get to race against you next year.

Re: Progress Made on NSS Build - 12/21/10 04:54 AM

I thought it would be out last year but had issues with the paint. I kind of feel snake bit but we are hoping for the spring of this year. The engine ran 10.06 in my 1969 Road Runner with a single 950 hp carb, automatic, and weighing 3,675 pounds. The Sport Fury will be lighter but the intake is more restrictive so we will see. I am hoping somewhere in the 10's.

I am going to try to hit some UMTR, NMCA, Buckeye Stock/Super Stock series, and will be at the Dave Duell Classic when finalized. I would like to race in Jeff Johnson's races and maybe some other events depending upon the children's summer sports and my work schedule.

Alright cool, Im sure I will see you at some point this year then!

You will love the Buckeye SS series! nothing like racing against NHRA/IHRA stockers and Super Stockers!

Don't discount that intake carb combo yet. They don't show as well on the dyno but I've seen some track results that beg to differ.

Went to Jeff Smith's shop today and figured we would start setting everything up to drop the motor, since he was a little under weather yesterday. Look What I found!

Re: Progress Made on NSS Build - 12/23/10 06:30 AM

Four speed hump removed to make room for installing transmission. Jeff will be cutting the rest of the trans tunnel with his plasma cutter and modifying the cross member for the Jerico and shifter linkage.
