Exhaust flex joint failure

Exhaust flex joint failure - 12/20/10 01:55 AM

Anyone ever have this happen to them? This is in the crossover pipe. The inner braid of the flex joint is "blown" down to the outlet end. It's still attached at the inlet end, just bunched up at the exit. The opening is only 1" in diameter to pass all the exhaust from the driver side bank to the passenger side. W.T.F.

Very common issue with the braided stainless on the inside as well. Just cut it out and make sure to check the turbine wheel. Usually some of the wires end up in there and hurt the ehaust wheel. The ones I bought were ROL I think and they had no braiding on the inside.

I saw a thread about a similar failure on the Turboforums. x2 on what CW25 said...

A slip joint might be more robust and turbo-friendly.

yup happened to me on my 1st setup...you can buy them without the braid in them for forced induction applications...
