Upgrade center section from 741 case with 3.91's to 742 with 4.30's, green axle bearings, new slicks, new front rims and tires (skinny 15" rallies with front runners), and try to figure out my Barry Grant 750. Looking to drop my 12.67 to a 12.00.

so you going to drop about ??? 5-6,000.00 ??

got it like that ! ! !

i say buy an aftermarket block..

Run the cage out the front, take out the t bars
put a coil over front shock
Tubular upper and lower arms
lot of weight off the front and cheaper than 3500.00

better headers

Beadlocks really not necessary and honestly people will cry about them..LOL at least the people you are looking to race.

Good luck this year

Re: what u want to do this winter - 12/17/10 09:14 PM

1. Reassemble my 452 in time for when the tracks open up in the spring. I'm making a few changes -- although nothing I'd consider major -- to the combination and am anxious to see the results.

2. Start finishing all the "mini projects" required to begin the assembly of the new 448 w/ the CNC Victors and street roller. If that comes together quickly enough, swap it for the 452 before 2011 is over in time to run some back-to-back tests.

I’m taking my old 82 Dodge Omni 024 foot brake car out of its 10 year retirement and getting it ready to race in the spring. I’m installing a new 496 engine, converting it to a PG transmission, rewiring the entire car, and upgrading the chassis. Anyone interested in buying a RED?

Finish my mini tub and hopefully put a backbrace on the the 8-3/4. Scraping the undercoating is taking longer than the work and after reading the post on backbracing I dont think I want to touch it.

Re: what u want to do this winter - 12/18/10 12:15 AM

I'd like to start the year out right with a successful full pass at the Hangover Nationals.

Ever since my car was finished a couple months ago I have been trying to track down a problem with my tranny or torque converter. The engine was over revving by half track and I've had to back out of the gas every time I've run the car.

I started by sending the converter back to PTC, they said it was loose and sent it back to me "fixed". Still did the same thing, so I contacted John Cope and we started looking at the tranny. Checked pressures, a bit low, but within range. He sent me a new valve body to try, and that didn't do a thing. Sent the tranny back to him for a thorough inspection. He didn't find a single thing wrong. John has been great throughout, a real stand up guy.

So... I just purchased another converter from another manufacturer. It shipped today and I'll have it in the car for the "Hangover Nationals" at Speedworld on New Years weekend.

I hope that the new year will bring an end to the problems and a successful season of racing

Re: what u want to do this winter - 12/18/10 01:47 AM

Its year 5 on my N/SS project. 3 different jobs in the last year didn't help. The bodys in my buddys home paint shop waiting (its's next in line). All the metal work and cage are completed. I'm getting the last parts machined to assemble a aluminum internal push button 727. The Dana is set-up, I'll disassemble it to paint it. The engine has been mocked up for clearance checks. Block needs only a hone and slight trim of the deck. Seats and door panels are off to a secret facility for "government" upholstery. I still have to build MSD mounts,Lexan windows, and mount the accusump, alternator, and vacuum pump to the motor plate. Then brake lines and wiring. Just about everything else has been fabbed and prefitted. Oh ya,I need to restore the vintage American 200S wheeels and polish the stainless. That about sums it up.

Taking car apart to get repainted (same color), swaping out the 440-1s to 572-13's when I get them. Rewiring the whole car to suit me better with the fuel injection. Installing a x-pipe and tail pipes. Hopefully new cage to run in the 9's legaly and tubular front end which if I do I will get the tti 2 1/8 step headers over the 2 inch I have now.

Re: what u want to do this winter - 12/18/10 02:51 AM

I just got my engine back from my friend/machine shop/engine builder after taking it in for its 500 run / 4 year check-up. All it needed was rod bearings, even the valve springs were good. So its back ready to go back in the car. I might get my headers recoated besides that and getting my backup 904 ready I`m not really doing much else.

Dropped the car off yesterday to have the cage finished to 25.5 spec, wishbone locator installed and anti roll built and installed. Also moving the master cylinder under the floor and removing some weight.....this is just phase 1 though. Phase 2 will happen when the car comes home from the chassis shop and I get into the engine.
