It depends on what sleeves are in it. They use different sleeves for what bore size is ordered.
You might want to call them.

what? Why would the OD of the sleeve be different? The block is CNC'd to fit a certain sleeve.

Nope, they have different sleeves.Todd and I been thru this before.

I know they do offer a thicker sleeve to go past 4.500 but then the block has to be remachined to use it or ordered that way, or order the block with the 4.840 bore space and the thicker sleeves So i am sticking with 4.500 on the standard maxx block with .300 between the cylinders.

I talked to indy on the phone they gave me some very off the wall numbers that I don't even want to print, all they wanted to do was sell me some parts I was told (last night) 4.530 was the max on the small sleeve block.my question is how much is left at this bore?
Thanks,Bruce

I would never go past 4.505 on the thin sleeve, you will be less than .070.You can have the block bored to accept thicker sleeves.Depending on your application, try and achieve a "happy medium" and not take too much out of the block as cracking can occurr.

Do you know the thickness of your sleeves and have you done a leakdown test or checked the roundness of your bores? We have a few 588" and 605" but maintain the 4.500 to 4.505 bores even with the thicker sleeves.

People didnt understand why I went with a 4.44 bore on my Maxx block instead of going straight to a 4.5 bore...
For the future over bore's. I would say power diff would go to the stronger, bore with minimal flex also.

.030 won't do anything for stability the way the sleeve is mounted in the aluminum block. I'll take the unshrouded valves of the bigger bore everytime. if i'm worried about stability i'll build a iron or cgi block.

Good points
I still dont think .030-.060 is going to make a noticeable power diff. They obviously know something if the block engineers say dont go more than 4.505 bore
Care to comment on the lash growth on the Maxx block? Seems excessive compared to other aluminum blocks.
As much as the lash grows on those, yea I worry about ring seal.
I would set the lash at .005 cold and it would be .020-.022 hot. No question ring seal would also vary....
People dont choose a Aluminum block for ring seal thats all Im trying to say. Then complicate the issue with bore the sleeves to exceed maximum bore spec.
Now a CG block, that would be a ultimate. I tried to obtain one, seems they liked the idea of it better than the actual product.
