E-85 fuel pressure with a SV-1 - 11/26/10 05:33 PM

Little confused on what is good or not? I switched from a black Holley pump with 1/2 line (deadhead) to a Magnafuel 500 AN-10 line deadhead with the Prosystems regulator. The problem I have is that the inlets to the carb leak. Patrick told me that I needed Teflon washers, which I put on and stopped the leaks. The regulator shows 2 psi@ idle 12 psi @wot. The pump is set at 28psi. Is this to much and should I lower the pressure to the regulator? Anyone else had this problem?

It looks like you have a voltage issue with those
numbers you show... like its low at idle and as the Rs
come up it picks up voltage

Why does the pressure change from idle to WOT?
This isn't a belt drive pump is it?

I use a MagnaFuel ProStar 500 with their big port reg. If I set it @ 6.5 @ idle it stays there down track.
I use the air bleed/return system. I have always used the steel washers from Holley behind the inlet fittings with no problems.

Iam sorry maybe Iam not explaining this right. The regulator runs off vacume from the SV-1 and it is supposed to be between 2 and 2.5 @ idle and then jump up as you go to wot. I was asking if the pump was set to high @28psi which would put to much pressure on the regulator? I just dont understand why it was leaking at the bowl at 2psi and I have always used steel washers and never had a problem like this. The pump itself stays at 28 psi. Mr.P Thanks

i wouldn't worry about the 28psi. that's where that pump is supposed to be. since your using the prosystems regulator, Patrick can advise you on that end of things but IMO it shouldn't be an issue.

Hey Dan Yeah I guess your right but I keep thinking about it and dont understand (atmospheric)so I cant see why it leaked at 2 psi when every carb i have didnt do this and so thought that maybe it was to much pressure to the regulator.I dont want to be a fireball on the track

i know what you mean, but it was the carb leaking, not the regulator. if your uneasy about the carb fittings possibly still leaking, adjust your pressure up without the engine running to 12 psi. if all is good, put it back where it belongs and get that thing to the track.
you ready for the new bullet for that thing yet?

Hello,

If it was laking at 2psi I would only think that there was irregularities with the mating surfaces. The use of teflon filled thoes irregularities and solved the problem. I'd think keep going with the solution. Good luck!

You know I never even thought of that Thanks and I quess I will pull the bowl off another carb and check.
