Tri City Competition "Launcher" Springs......

Tri City Competition "Launcher" Springs...... - 11/17/10 07:33 AM

I had a set of these on my 70' Cuda years ago, and loved them. I am wondering if anybody here is using them on an A-body, and if so, are you able to drive the car around on the street, or is the ride too stiff? I am doing a new car, and would like to use the Launchers, instead of Cal-Tracs, for this build.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Chris - Lotsa stockers use them, and I know they work killer on the track, but, my car will see the street and the track. I am mainly concerned with the ride and the ride height, as I want the car to sit low, and still be able to properly pitch-rotate when I launch it.

Car is for my wife( ) 64' Valiant, pump gas small block, Alterktion front-end, Mandella 9" rear, mini-tubbed, blah-blah-blah.

Nope, no Cuda for this weekend. Will be helping a few of the blown-injected teams in Pro Street.

Chris,

I think Sloan was running them on his class car.

I believe Ron Silva put a pair on the back of his Valiant as well.

Might be two people with experience with them

I have them on my 66 Dart, but I have not driven it yet.
But it is very stiff and the ride hight is high to.

I had them on my Stocker (73 Duster 340) and they worked great. I didnt drive it all that much though. Ron Silva asked me about them and he decided to replace the Mono leafs with the launchers. Ron didnt like the clacking noise that the caltracs made on the street when they were not preloaded. The Launchers are definitely heavier but who cares when they work. Im not sure how they ride on the street though. I will ask Ron. He lives down the street from me. His car ate an output shaft in the 904 and he is currently waiting for a 300M billet shaft to be made.

They are extremely beefy, not something you want if your concerned with ride comfort.

I run them on my 69 Satellite on the street, they are stiff, but not unreasonable. As a side benefit, along with a 1" torsion bar addition, the handling improved tremendously. I'm not bracket racing much anymore.

tricitycompetition.com is the website, not much info except some race rings for sale, but Greg's contact info is there.
Maybe it's a new website, barely even refers to the springs.

The principle is the same, but they are much better quality, more consistant, and super heavy duty..and he makes them to suit your specific application.(more science to them)And IIRC, you have arch options.
