Stolen Trailer Alert !

Stolen Trailer Alert ! - 11/07/10 10:28 PM

I store my trailer at a friends Body Shop in Cleveland on the West side, near I-71 @ W.150th

Well I drove by today and its gone !!

Its a 16' Appalachian trailer w/ a steel deck

2 things that will stand out

1.The appalachian stckers have been removed and replaced with

" HILLBILLY DELUXE " on the frame rails.
2. It has a "WEDGE" lic plate on pass side.

ohio lic SPE 2200 on driverside ....please keep an eye out

Sorry to hear that.

What tips do people have for avoiding this happening?
Lock on trailer hitch.
Park another vehicle in front of the trailer.
Keep it out of sight, ... ie out of mind?
????

Yes lock on hitch.

I should have taken the wheels off.

I had to use one more time this year to go to fab shop for Roll Bar

Fran, sorry to hear this.

Some of the obvious markers will be removed right away by the thieves. Like the plates and stickers you have. It may even get a quicky paint job.

Typical things that wont get changed that are good "identifying indicators" are tires and rims,Brand and size, wire harness plug type, and ball size.

A pic would be nice. I will keep an eye out for you.

I just had a Golf cart stolen, and I know the feeling of seeing the spot where the item was, and feeling its GONE

Good Question

Tires ....are 5 BRAND NEW 20 75 15 w/ white wagon wheels 1 tire is a spare mounted to the driverside frame rail

New LED lights all around and the handle to raise and lower the trailer is broken

Boy that just stinks. Lets hope for some justice!

Something else that stands out to me is the dual rear tail lights. Most trailers dont have standard square " boat trailer" lights as well as sealed beam ovals in the rear of the deck. Also, along with that, the rear slide out ramps catch your eye quick. With the two of them, easy spotting from the rear.

Sorry to hear that, Fran. I wish I could help.

For those of you who don't know, a family member of mine was the victim of a break-in a few months back. I called Fran just to get his input. Turns out they live in Fran's district, and Fran made several calls and such on their behalf. He didn't have to do that, and he did it without me asking him to do so. I just wanted to pick his brain for a bit, and instead, my family member got personalized service from a dedicated officer who decided to get involved, even though he didn't have to, and even though he was off-duty when I called him. Fran's one of the good guys.

I will put the dogs out here in Michigan, I'am about 40 min. from Detroit. It's pretty sad that we need to chain up every thing we own.

I travel the freeways alot in mich, so I will be on the look out and on craigs list and others too.

Fran,

Just heard news from Fourgearsavoy. That sucks. I really liked your trailer. Just recently filed report in Port Clinton after our boat trailer turned up MIA from locked storage lot of the rack storage facility where our boat is stored. Looks like wheels will be coming off of my car trailer asap.

The thief that I finally catch will be making up for the ones that got away.
