Re: Dynamic convertors - 09/22/10 03:28 AM

I've had one for about 10 years, 8", been a real good piece, had it back to them once, charge for a rebuild was a little higher than I thought it should be, but I got over that would use them again.

5200 8" in the old cuda street car, 1.36 60' times and a best of 9.98 in street trim. There are a good converter in my book, worth every penny....phill

My 9.5" unit works great. However, Dynamic sold a friend of mine virtually the identical converter for a significantly different combination and it didn't work nearly as well.

They went through a phase where it seemed like anybody w/ a street/strip car was sold a 9.5" unit, regardless of whether it made sense or not (at least to me). I think that series became their "cash cow".

had a 9 1/2" 3800 dynamic (lupo) converter in my dart. it ran awesome. felt like a stock converter on the street but felt like i was shot out a cannon at the track. only reason its not in the car now is because i hurt the good m,otor and have a box stock motor in the car now.

Had no problem with a dynamic on the 440 , built the 605" & used same convertor (what was i thinking) , balloned the convertor & took out main bearings along with crank

We also have the 9.5 in a street and strip car behind a 340 close to 4000 stall works great, 3500 car with a small slick has gone 1.60 sixy foot.

I use the 9.5 Dynamic in my sons car and my 63. They work great on our street/strip cars. Ron

Re: Dynamic convertors - 09/23/10 07:33 AM

I had a 10" Dynamic race converter (had anti-baloon plate, better internals that the street 10") behind the 451 for over 10-years and it was still good when the motor broke. I'm going to have it freshened up when I get a few extra $$$. Currently running a really nice custom 9" Ultimate converter, but that cost 2x what as much as the old 10" converter.

Re: Dynamic convertors - 09/23/10 02:12 PM

I've got 4 of them:

In my '71 Cuda with a Powerglide:
8" for my 700hp and less motors, it has close to 2,000 passes on it. Sent it in for rebuild for the first time after 1,600 passes. (deadly consistent)

9" for my 700hp and more motors, works great and I've been running it behind my less hp motors and it's leaves soft but run like a scolded dog on the top end (1.50 60' and 137mph 10.00 ETs). I typically have 3 - 4 mph on cars with similar ETs, which comes in handy bracket racing.

In my wife's '68 Cuda with 727:
9 1/2" drove nice on the street works great on the track, 1.47 60 foots with 10.90 ETs

In my dad's '66 Cuda with a 904:
9 1/2" works great on the street and strip.

Same thing with a Dynamic 9 1/2 in my old A body.

904/9.5 Dynamic. Did exactaly what my goal was. Nice launch, minimal slippage on the top end. A big part of making my bracket car deadly consistent.
