440 blower intake needed

440 blower intake needed - 09/13/10 08:19 PM

I am just starting to assemble parts for a 440 blower motor for my next project. I am looking for an intake that sits the 6-71 blower as low as possible but still has enough room on the intake ports to add fuel injector bungs. Has anyone gone this route before? Any one brand intake better than another?

did you look at the INDY intake?i think you use spacers for an RB engine.what other choices are there other than having 1 made and a custom used.

The BDS intake is pretty low, can't make it much lower than that.

ya but i dont see any way to have injector bungs in it unless it is mechanical inj where the smaller hose can fit thru a hole in the side wall of the intake and then into the port.

dfi has been tough for blown engine tuners.i hope iy can work for you.are you going FI for more driver view?

Why has it been hard for blower guys? Is there something odd going on in the intake that is different from what turbo guys see?

i have only read that it is the tip in from part throttle too rich or something.if BS3 has a handle on it that would be cool.

I wanted to go with port fuel injection so that I would not have carbs sticking through the hood. As much as I like that look, I am hoping to NOT cut a perfect '70 Road Runner (power bulge) hood. Stock (sleeper) look is what I'm hoping for (even if I have to lower the engine slightly to make it all fit).

will you put fuel thru the blower rotors or have the blower set for street use and about .010 case to rotor gap?

You will still need to have some type of throttle body on the top of the blower, so, carbs or not, I don't think you have a prayer of getting a 6-71 to sit below the hood.

Even with no blower, its going to be difficult to keep my EFI throttle body under the hood (yeah, a 440 intake on a hemi block doesn't fit well LOL.)



Your best chance for "blown sleeper" (flat hood) is to go with a ProCharger system.

If you're going with a Procharger and EFI you might as well do a front feeding intake and keep it below a stock hood.

another way to keep it low is to use a twinscrew blower with the inlet in the back of the case ontop of a low intakemanifold

this is one of the few dragcars i know about using a twinscrew you can see some pics there of the car check them out and see what you think,also this thing has a very tall singleplane intakemanifold with a tall adaptor for the blower ontop of it so a lower intakemanifold made with height in mind will make it alot lower

btw nomather what brand of car, that is one bad car and some very nice guys in that team
