rocker adjusters and pushrod ends - 09/02/10 11:35 AM

I am runnin a solid cam with Crane Gold rockers which have a 5/16 adjuster balls and howards EDM lifters. Engine is RB stroker Indy heads. The adjusters and pushrod cup have started to wear away and the lifter ends also has signs of wear ,engine has approx. 20 runs. The pushrods are 3/8 diameter with 3/8 cup and ball they were supplied with the Indy heads and I had them cut to correct lenght. There are no oiling issues or signs of heat build up. Would this have been caused by using the 3/8 ended push rod and do I need to use 5/16 ends?

yes, toss those Indy pushrods and get some with the correct radius ball and cup. the 3/8 cup is sliding around on the 5/16 adjuster.

I agree. Before you add any more churned metal into the crankcase. Search this forum, this problem is not unique to you. You will probably discover that the adjuster is soft once you change to a better pushrod. Don't ask me how I know.
