For a street version of an RHS based 410:

https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...part=1&vc=1

Our 12.2:1 CR RHS-headed 416 has been 10.33 @ 131 at 3100# through the muffs. Granted, this is more race car than street car with a spool, 8" converter, etc. It also has a 2.45 low gear 904.

Not knowing you timeslip deatails, the first thing that I notice is a low 1st gear coupled with a pretty tight conveter. It needs "flash" off the starting line to get it moving.

Tell us more...

I immediately questioned converter as well.

Distributor, carb and timing info?

Post a time slip for us.

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 02:39 AM

What's wrong with the converter ????

RT .533
60 ft 2.23
1/8 8.8 82.8 mph
1/4 13.6 99.3 mph

IT JUST SUCKS !!!!!!!!

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 02:54 AM

A couple things stand out:

#1 Your 60' is killing you. Real bad. That is drastically hurting the ET

#2 I'm not so sure I'd be running 1.6 rockers on that. I am assuming these are untouched heads?

#3 Your back half MPH ( from 1/8th to 1/4 ) is a little weak. Its not pulling enough MPH there.

I'd concentrate on that 60' first. It will really improve that ET. How many passes have you made in it? Is it bogging, spinning, coughing etc on the launch?

What jets are in the carb?

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 03:11 AM

That combo should be making in excess of 460hp

The converter isn't bad if it truly is a 3800. Brian's Duster with my 3500 verter went 1.43ish 60's.

There is something wrong, the MPH is very low. Should be in the mid 90's at 1/8th post if this is a 3300 pound car.

If this is in a 4500 pound tank, then take that into account.

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 03:53 AM

How are you launching it?

What carb?

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 04:15 AM

My first thoughts are, what distributor are you running, how is it set up and where ya got the timing set? Also, as someone else mentioned, what jets are in the carb and does it have power valves in it? If these things are in check I would have to ask if you are sure the converter is good? Everything else being in check it could be a bad converter to knock performance down that badly.

there is something very off here, unless this motor lives in a motorhome or something like that..
i bet its something very simple when you find it like carb not opening all the way maybe even not halfway or something else like that. or like writen earlier what does the car do how does it behave in the 60´

you will find the problem im sure

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 02:03 PM

Is this engine in an A, B, C or E body????

What size fuel line from tank to carb?

Can you push the car on a flat/level surface without much effort?

What type/size tires are on car?

A lot of info is missing!

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 02:25 PM

HI guys !
The engine is in a 67 Barracuda

Yes there was alot of slippage, non glue at the track, but even that, I should have a better top speed..
I checked the carb before going there

There is more effort to push a car with a spool for sure...

I start thinking may be the problem is in the trans itself.....

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/28/10 03:35 PM

The car will be harder to push if you are turning only, in a straight line it should be fairly easy to push. Your 60' is terrible but the mile per hour is way off also. There is something wrong whether it be timing, carburation, fuel delivery, engine or drive-train. Pick a spot and sort it out.

Was this engine bought assembled or did you or another builder put it together with known components?

How did you check the carb to make sure you were getting WOT?

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/29/10 02:08 AM

I had someone step on the pedal while I was looking at the venturis

THis is a stroker kit assembled by an engine builder

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/29/10 02:49 AM

How is your timing? If you used the factory timing marks have you checked the timing marks VS the actual piston position? Sometimes the marks don't line up where the should be.

Is it missing or bogging at all?

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/29/10 05:05 AM

SOMETHING IS WAY OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i used the caps to stress a point. it's not the vert or the trans.{ it should be faster than that with a stock vert and a 3.23 gear. small exhaust? cam off a tooth? no timing? too much timing?{which i doubt,it would probably be kicking back against the starter]

Yeah no s#it lol, something is definitly off, my piss ass junkyard 360 magnum with RHS heads run 12.5s @ 105 shifting @ 5100, make sure its getting good fuel supply. I'm also running a spool, its very easy to push on a straight!

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/30/10 12:47 AM

I know something is wrong , but what ???

Yes there was a lot of slippage thursday at the track, non glue on the pavement on thursdays, my 60 ft was killing me for sure !!timing is ok, 180 psi on every cylinder, 250/294 mec cam...I have all the rught stuff !! I will sure put my finger on it.........I took the engine out today, just to see........

what intake/carb?
how heavy is the car?
what do you have for exhaust?

I agree with others, your 60' sucks...cut it down to the 1.50's and you're in the mid 12's, possibly...

but your MPH isn't too high, so it almost seems like it's laying down on the big end?

Re: Your ET's with RHS iron heads - 08/30/10 05:30 PM

If the car is hard to push in a straight line on a flat level surface look at the brakes hanging up first then make sure rear housing is NOT bent.

If you have a mechanical fuel pump with 5/16 fuel line switch to electric fuel pump and min. 3/8 line.

What type/manufacturer is your convertor? Money spent on a cheap convertor is wasted money.

Good luck.

OK....just to keep you informed

Took the engine out to see..

Looks like one rod bearing shot and the mains
are in very bad shape.....too bad I waisted money on an engine builder for assy,.....sould have done it myself as usual.
