Who is going to Bristol next month for Mopar Thunder? - 08/19/10 06:24 PM

I am finally going to try and get the car back to the track. Never have been to Bristol so another new track for me. Heading that way with 4-5 other guys from this area.

We're going Ron, I've got 4 big races scheduled starting labor day weekend, first 3 are at Bristol. Mopar Thunder (3 days, 2 classes), DER Series bracket race (2 days, 2 classes), and Pinks All Out. Good thing I live close to Bristol, huh (1 1/2 hr drive)
Looking foreward to meeting some you there.

Hope the shirts bring good luck at all those races, you're gonna wear that new engine out
if'n you keep running it like that.

Looking forward to seeing you there. Do you like to eat fried catfish? My dad normal cooks fish on saturday after the race? Didn't know if you would be intrested just let me know?

Guess i will miss Bristol this year , motor is making oil with a little help fom water.Anybody got a good 440 block in the charlotte area? Bristol is the best Mopar race in the Southeast.

Ron, I've been the last 2 years, all on labor day weekend. My understanding is this is 11th year. Good crowds last 2 years.
One thing that might help is they race fri test and tune, all brands with anyone welcome. Then Mopar only sat and sun, giving those that travel mon to recover from racing before going back to work/school tues.

Brian, sounds good.

Right now I am planning on camping at the track, but have an uncle coming that probably won't want to do that because of some health issues. Any hotel recommendations?

Always wanted to go to Bristol for this race, but we aren't going to make it. Too many other things going on right now.

Dang Russ, I thought it would BEE done by now. Anything I can do to help?
Also, if you don't get it done this week, and you want to make some 1/4 mile laps before Pinks, Bristol is haveing bracket races 2 weeks after Mopar show (2 weeks before Pinks) and they have two 1/4 mile classes.

Ron, I'm going to go back and forth and sleep at home. I'm not aware of any motels near the track. You have to go back to the interstate, to Kingsport or Bristol, Va I think. I'll check and if I find something, I'll let you know.

Brian, The block was finished this afternoon. I'm picking it up in the morning. I have everything to put it back together but the ARP main studs. I'm not sure when they will be in.

Should be there by 2pm Friday at the latest (if I get my trailer fixed tonight stupid wheel seals )

No worries on the hotel, I think we decided to stay in the trailer and party in the evenings

Weather looks great for the weekend. trailer is fixed (I think) and I will be leaving at 6am Friday. The guys I was going to travel with are all heading up there tomorrow night.

Will not be there this year.. Have made the trip for the last 5 years. But not his year.. Barracuda has a hurt motor and the Challenger is not ready... Can't see coming 12 hours just to watch.. So, hopefully next year!!!!!!

Right now they weather man is calling for sunny skys and a HIGH of 75*!
I might get my 35 HP back that I usually loose going to Bristol. Sat should killer air!
