Wiring rev counter to Msd

Wiring rev counter to Msd - 08/17/10 10:33 PM

Is a tacho more accurate through the msd than off the coil.
I have bought an old altometer playback recorder, I just wondered if anyone had used one and how they rated it.

If you are using an MSD box to fire the ignition, you use the tach output on it, do not connect the tach to the coil.

Hi Mike.
I used to have it connected to the coil and left that way when I first swiched over to a 6AL. The tach read high at low revs and it would go down when you revved up Extreme example I know, it was the multiple coil pulse doing it. Switched to MSD tach o/p and OK.

So switching to the msd output improved it.
Thanks Mick

Yes, no problems after that.
