Clay Smith fuel pump

Clay Smith fuel pump - 08/12/10 07:37 PM

I want to try a Clay Smith mechanical fuel pump on my 440. I know about the clearance issues and I'm prepared for that. What I want to know is: can I run a deadhead regulator with this pump or will I need a bypass back to the tank? Mostly street car, stock tank with sump.

Tonys451 has one on his 440 with a stock tank. I think he will chime in when he sees this post.

I have a Clay Smith pump and using an Aeromotive dead regulator. No issues so far.
Lots of grinding to make it fit.

Thanks for the info, grinding not a problem. Just concerned about 14psi against a dead head regulator.

I use a Barry Grant modified Carter Speedway pump on my Camaro...its 14psi and no problems in the last 12 years against a dead head regulator
