The motor in the old cuda is around 600 HP NA with 9.5 CR and W2 heads. Give me your thoughts on a turbo set up, size and what gains could you expect...Thanks...Phill
To make the power you want with a turbo, you have to make sure your piston ring lands are not too high up. That and maybe a cam change (not a lot of duration, 114 + LSA) will probably be your only changes needed.
Not sure what the cubes are, but an 88mm unit will suffice unless you have 400+" and are shooting for 1500 hp!
Its a 416, Has mopar steel 4" crank, eagle rods custom ross pistons. What kind of money are we talking? I can do all the fab work and welding of the headers....
You can figure 1300 for a good carb, 1,900 for the turbo, 500 for the waste gate, 300 for a blow off valve, cost of the cam, tubing for the headers, boost controller is about $500, and if you dont have a programmable ignition, it may be a good idea
Keep in mind that all the prices above are brand new prices and high dollar parts and brands. A nice used turbo can be had for around 800$, xo2 or vs racing wastegates work fine and are only 200$ shipped and they now have a descent blow-off valve too. When I bought my carb I got a dual needle and seat CSU for 900 shipped that had omly a few passes on it. Or you can do the conversion yourself for next to nothing. And hats are 150$ from csu no need for them high dollar EV hats. You would prob. have no need for a high dollar elec. boost controller, you can get a manual turbo smart for 100$ All I'm saying is it can be done alot cheaper than parts above.
By the time you price everything for blow through, and realize that you will probably eventually go to EFI, a FAST system or something similar will be the way to go.
