Raced my new Challenger

Raced my new Challenger - 07/03/10 04:32 AM

I picked it up this morning, drove it hard most of the day. Ran it tonight. And had a blast. These cars are fun.

Best pass was 8.82 in the 1/8th.
Ran several runs and was playing with it trying to find what it liked. Cut a few reds and one .008 so it can cut a light I just need some more seat time lol
not bad for a car with about 400 miles on it

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/03/10 02:12 PM

Thanks guys.
It's an auto that I just left in D and let it do it's own thing. I mostly just play'd with the traction control lastnight.
Woody the breaks are Brembos on all 4 corners and they are wicked good.
I had as much fun with this car as I do with the Valiant, even had some butterflys at the gate

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/04/10 03:50 PM

Woody, Mighty Mouse looks great! That car should be in a car show every day as nice as it is.

So what's it take to get a sub two sec. sixty foot in these challengers. Also what's a few cheeper mods I can do to it for a good bang for the buck.
I'm thinking gears are going to be hi on My list.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/04/10 04:46 PM

I have no experience with the Challengers or the Hemi, but I messed with some of the LS1 stuff a few years ago and going from my experience drag radials and a converter in an auto is going to be the most bang for the buck. I had a WS6 Formula that went 7.89 at 87 mph in the 1/8th with those two changes.

Headers, Exhaust, Cold air kit, Throttle body.
Mopar Muscle just did a BBK Performance 85mm
throttle body and cold air kit. Showed a 43 hp and 50 ft/lb increase on thier dyno.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/04/10 05:44 PM

The Firebird would 60' low 1.7's high 1.6's with the converter and Nitto drag radials. With the stock 3.23 gear.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/05/10 03:50 PM

Dave we need to get together at some point.
One of the guys I work with has been talking crap to the wife for several months...He has the typical winged, fart piped honduh.....She just said "Pick a day i`ll be there"
Well last tuesday was it.....needless to say it wasn`t pretty
To make matters worse she was going .040`s to his +.100`s

On the way home she commented that it wasn`t that much fun as she wanted more competition
I really wanted her to run the 6 speed SRT that was there as she had him covered by a easy tenth and change but we ran out of time.

Forget a gear change for now..go for a converter and stickies (I am)....Mine has been 2.03 stone stock so sub 2.0`s are possible with minimal mods.

I love my wife..at least she like this stuff

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/09/10 12:08 AM

With a converter and sticky tires I have gone 1.68 60' without nitrous and 1.59 with a 100 shot. This is with an auto and 3.06 gears. These cars are much faster than most people are led to believe.

Devil looks like your having some fun with yours!
I been looking for some drag radials but don't see any in 20's.
I have fun just driving it to the track but hopeing to race it in trophy tomarrow. Depends on rain.

Big cube should be the next member of the blue challenger club

I heard the new Continental DW's or something like that hook pretty well.

I'll be going out to Union Grove in a few weeks, lets see how I do.

Nice car, have fun racing. I myself just got back in my car this weekend. We got the whole family out at Norwalk racing. It is always more fun when you can get the family involved.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/11/10 03:28 PM

That is a nice car, and I love the color too.

I raced an SRT the other day. It was modified with a Procharger type supercharger, etc.; so the guy must have $50k invested in it, but it was fast.
6.80 in the 1/8th mile must be around 10.60's in the 1/4.

The only issue is the $50k is more money than I have invested in my race car, trailer, and tow vehicle combined!
With my better reaction time, I caught him early and put a fender length on him.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/11/10 03:51 PM

I ran mine again last night. Made four runs and they were all in the 8s with a best being 8.86.
The best sixty was only 2.10 so it really needs some tires. The car draws everyone in, I love the chevy guys saying how they like the srt better then the ss.
i know these cars ain't cheep but i love mine and think it was worth it. I like the fact that not everyone will spend the cash to own one.
I been eyeballing a procharger, but that will be winter time.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/11/10 04:00 PM

There is a lady at RT66 racing an SRT-8 auto. I have been next to her when she went 13:30's with it.

She used to have a Z-06 Vette. She says she likes the Challenger a lot more.

Re: Raced my new Challenger - 07/19/10 05:34 AM

Well I ran it again fri night. I have 15 runs on it and right at 1000 miles lol. The air was bad I was told by one racer it was 3600 feet. So no new best but was dialing in the lights. Cut a .0030 and a .015 on a bracket tree. And everyone loves this car, well everyone but the guys I beat lol.
I raced a couple mustangs, I think the badest was an 08 Bullit. The camaro was dodging me lmao and for good reason. He was a mid 9 car all night.
Here's a vid racing the bullit stang
