Iv brought one of these ignitions with matching crane coil & billit crane dizzy, just wondering who users one & what do you think of them?

I run a HI-6 on my Challenger. FWIW, the PS-92 coil showed an on-track improvement over the PS-91 coil I tried to start with.

Was this a significant gain? I am setting my car up with the PS 91 now since it is supposed to be a street/strip coil.
How much difference are we talking here?

IMO The Crane units are far superior than the MSD. It's really too bad they don't make the HI-7 and HI-8 any more, and there are no plans to.
With all of the posts about MSD ignitions popping etc. you never hear this about a Crane.
I have been using the same Crane HI-7 for 10 years now. Never had an issue.
The Crane HI-6 is a much better unit than the MSD 6 anything..

During back-to-back tests on the same day the PS-92 picked up .5+ MPH compared to the PS-91 (e.g. from 124.5 to 125+). I wasn't expecting ANY improvement, much less a solid (and consistent) gain.

When the HI-6 quits working it's junk unlike MSD that can be fixed.

years ago i installed a hi-7 or 8 (can't remember which) on a friends dragster i was running. i did some tests on that ignition, a 7al2 and holley. the crane fired hardest of the bunch, that thing had some bite. i still like the holley ignitions and have been stocking up on them. imho their strip ignition was the best bang for the buck going. two rpm switches, three rev limiters, start retard, selectable rev limiter patterns...all adjustable with a handheld programmer and in one neat compact box. at the time with an MSD (Mighty Stupid Design) you would have needed a trailer to cart all the crap needed to match the holley.

I've had one for close to ten years. I've had it on my old Duster and now on the 'Cuda. Trouble free so far. The rev limiter seems to cut in a little early on mine. Other than that I get quick starts, a reasonable idle and I am confident it will pull more rpm than the engine is mechanically capable of. Since my car is 98% street use I wired it so that I can use a factory box if necessary. Autozone and the like don't usually stock parts like this, so I carry a factory ignition in the trunk. FWIW dept. The HI 6 box will work with a factory coil and the HI 6 coil will work with a factory box.

you're not wrong about them Holley igns, i don't know how often i'm asked for msd parts at the track, the holley is complete within itself, you couldn't ask for anything better. i bought a spare kit off a friend who has gone motec & never installed the holley. guess i'll be taking it to the grave since the holley doesn't look like giving up anytime soon. shame holley don't make them anymore.

& you have had the holley system for quite some years now aye? didnt you use that in the red car too?
Iv got an MSD7-3 in the duster perhaps I should install the crane in it first to get a better handle on the thing first up?
