Bent valves - 06/12/10 11:41 AM

I bent exh valves do to loose timing chain. Heads were new(iron 440-1) should i have the seats re ground or would putting new exh valves and lapping them be a good fix? Valves aren't bent to much still had about 60psi comp on cylinders with bad valves and a good cyl check 175-180. thanks for input

Since you would have the heads off I would touch up
the seats also... no reason no to... plus touch the
valves also... just to make sure they are good to go...
I dont trust the factory cut.... JMO

The shop i bought them from did a valve job its not the factory job, they only have 2 clutch test runs no track time . I was thinking if i bought new exh valves and lapped them i could see if the seal area looks uniform. I dont wont to reuse the bent valves. This is on a pulling truck and if i send them to shop it will take a few weeks usually(no matter what they say) i will miss a few pulls if i do that
