727 question - 06/10/10 01:33 AM

I build my own 727 about a year ago. Everything works well but my car is hard to push back. Not to long ago I build one for a friend and that car does not have that problem. Any one knows what causes that?
thank you

I checked with the tires on the air and disconected the drive shaft. Also when I move the drive shaft, one way is easy ans the other is hard.

It is normal for a 727(and probally a 904) for the driveshaft to turn harder in reverse than foward, I think it's that way. My trans. with a low Mopar brand low(2.77) gear set is harder to turn backwards than my standard low(2.45) gear trans is It is also harder to push the car backwards with the low gear trans. in it

When turning the tailshaft backwards the planetaries are in an overdrive condition which makes the friction of the released clutches/band more pronounced.

Perfectly normal.

You might want to check your friends trans because his should be like yours

Re: 727 question - 06/11/10 12:14 AM

thank you for your answers. All the 727 that I had before feel the same way as my car does, but the one I built for my friend does not feel that way. The car is easy to push back and it raced last week and went 9.70 so I figured that if I could find the problem and fix it, then I could gain a couple tenths on mine. so thank you for the info, I know better know
