guess our mess - 06/06/10 11:15 PM

On our 2nd time run Friday night @Pinks All-Out the car left hard then seemed to bog down, so i short shifted to second gear, then it shook a little so I headed to the wall and coasted down the track, just before the first turn off I put the car in neutral and as it rolled through the wall it cut it self off. I looked under the car no fluid sprayed everywhere, no holes in anything I can see but when i went to recrank the car it was locked solid. We pulled the valve cover and all the rockers and push rods were in place. Any ideas or suggestions as to what to look for or check.

Pull the converter bolts. Then try and turn the engine. If it turns then the tranny is the problem probably a broken converter or locked up pump. Anything is possible

Re: guess our mess ** UPDATE** - 06/09/10 01:53 AM

Chris3 got the car up in the air last last eveing and discovered our problem... the #2 connecting rod decided it wanted to see the outside world so we now have a split in the pan just below the rail. So guess we'll pull it out and survey the damage and see what's needed.

From the symptoms, a spun rod bearing.

The rod let loose after the spun bearing. Luckily for you it went out the pan and not the block. Thats good news. Also the fact that it shut down right away is good news.

Thats my Guess, a actual teardown will let you know for sure. mike
