who's the best with heads - 05/09/10 05:05 PM

I was wondering if I could get some input on who does the best head porting. I have a set of edelbrock rpm magnum heads on my 408 that is used for race only. I want to find someone who can CNC and hand port and polish. I was thinking about just sending them to INDY but I've heard good and bad things about them. Any and all info helps, Thanks

Check with Hughes Engines. I think they have a CNC package for those heads.

Indio Motor Machine is close and Brian seems to be getting decent results with hand porting magnum designs.

the motor is pretty mild 9.5 to 1's comp cam around 588 lift, the heads due have small chambers i think like 62cc or around that, air gap rpm magnum intake with a 750 demon, running a poerglide with an 8 3/4 with 4.30's ran it yesterday at about 7700 feet elevation 10.82 @ 121.60 we figure it weights about 2200 to 2400 lbs

I would call Jeff at Modern, not sure he has a CNC program though. Shady Dell seems to get excellent results and Brian at Indio comes highly recommended.

Two questions. Did you buy that truck out of Nevada? And is that the track outside Gran Junction, CO?

no the truck is out of arizona but that was about 10 years ago. the truck was never finished until about 2 months ago. and yes that is western colorado dragway out side of Grand Junction

I like your truck. Is your hood fiberglass or is it steel with a fiberglass cowl scoop? As you can see in my picture I need to do something about a hood?

I wish mine was that light, mine weights 2820 lbs. I need to figure out how to get my weight down.

I really like www.immengines.com work. Brian has helped us go fast and has straightened out some of my friends cylinder heads that were ported by so-called reputable shops. Very good customer service and great results with our stuff.
